100,000 qantas or altitude points bonus with new westpac black card

Data Point: In Aug I harvested 50K bonus pts from previous Westpac Altitude Black offer which was activated on July 18 then cancelled - reapplied for latest offer mid October and card activated October 24 - min spend reqt met Oct 25 - bonus 100K pts appeared in QFF acc o/n - clearly 12mth non card T's & C's a fallacy - now to cancel in a day or so and request pro-rata refund ann fee - it's a beautiful thing.

What excuse did you give to get your annual fee pro-rataed for the 100K offer CE?

Was asked reason for cancelling and responded with 'I have had a dispute with Qantas and no longer desire to accumulate FF pts with them' - I then asked about refund of Ann Fee and was put on hold as Agent checked - came back with 'We will refund Ann Fee in full - that will put CC into credit so I will just transfer that amount across to your Westpac Choice eAccount' - works for me - that is where refund of Ann Fee from previous cancellation ended up.

Thanks for that. But I just called up this morning, they guy on the phone straight way told me that Westpac never offers pro-rata refund on annual fees, and even you just use it for one day, you have to pay for the remaining 364 days of the fee. Would you mind telling if that is the case by case? Cheers

I have no idea - I have never been refused refund with Westpac when I ask IIRC - maybe you just lucked out - no idea really.

Thanks CE will give it a try and if it doesn't work the first time will attempt the HUACA method.

I am late to this points party - but applied for the card this morning via the PointHacks link - kept a screenshot of the landing page - application took 5 minutes and was approved immediately, now to get the cards, spend the $5K and get the points....

well done bjm.
I should have applied already, have met the spend on my NAB card so just need to get this one moving.

Does anyone here who have applied for this card recently, has a Westpac Premier Advantage Package, gets the Qantas Black card annual fee waived, AND get the 100000 Qantas points?

Thats the plan. Just waiting on the points to land and will be trying to get the fee waived. Will let you know next month how I go.

Hi Lawrage, so essentially you let Westpac charge you the annual fee first (even though you have Advantage Package but you do not register the card against it), and wait for the 100K to drop to your account, then ask the Westpac CSR to reverse the annual fee by registering the card against the package?

I guess the T&Cs did say "pay the $395" before getting the points. I would prefer to not pay the $395 at the first place to get the points but the above method is OK as long as it works.

I noticed that the cut off date is 5 January so I have to make decisions quickly .....

Has anyone tried to apply today and get the following error message?

**We are sorry

We seem to be experiencing problems. Please try later again
The credit card application form is currently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.**

Looks like the offer is ending on the 5th of January, really don't want to miss out on the deal :(

That is the idea. Seen as nobody that ive spoken to at Westpac seems to know anything about this deal I want to make sure the points post first. Once that is done I will call up the Mortgage department and attempt to get them to link it up and refund the annual fee.

Hoping this will work.

Have only had 50k post so far, as soon as the other 50k comes in il give this a try and let you know how it goes.

not sure if this is posted before (and probably too late now that promo has just ended) but i noted the conditions changed so the exclusion of holders of other westpac cards seem to have been removed (or i am just not looking hard enough). nonetheless i went ahead and applied (holding the 55day visa and altitude plat) and have hit the spend straight away. hopefully the points will come soon. i'll report back

I did my min spend on 27 Oct. That first statement went to 17 Nov. I think I got all the points on my next statement 17 Dec

Seems this offer has been extended to Feb 28th.

There used to be an extra bit on the end of the T&Cs.

Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

Has anyone who held a Westpac Card in the last 12 months successfully signed-up and got the 100k points?

I still don't see anything in their Ts & Cs excluding it, however at the top of the offer page it says "New Customers". I wonder if "New Customers" are defined in some deeply hidden generic Ts & Cs as not having held a card in the last 12 months?

Want a World Mastercard but don't want to take the risk.

That's not the way new customers are usually defined.
