Summer Points Planes

For 72 hours from 11am today, frequent flyers will be able to book reward seats on all flights between 9-22 January and all of February 2023 on the following routes:

Melbourne to Hamilton Island, Merimbula, Townsville, Devonport, Burnie and the Gold Coast

Sydney to Byron Bay, Hamilton Island, Merimbula, Townsville and the Gold Coast

Brisbane to the Whitsunday Coast, Hamilton Island and Townsville

Adelaide to Townsville, Kangaroo Island, Mount Gambier, Whyalla, Port Lincoln and the Gold Coast

Perth to Broome

It looks like Tassie, Canberra and NT miss out.

Routes don't really suit me either but I imagine plenty of points rich Sydney or Melbourne families might take advantage of a trip to the Gold Coast.

Nice, though for me to get excited it would need to be J/F to/from LHR with flights about 3-4 weeks apart for each direction.
Which makes me wonder, what if Qantas were to lease one of those all-business-class planes from Singapore Airlines (if they still have them?) and fly Points Planes to/from LHR back and forth, constantly. Could they even keep up with demand, or would they sell out for a year instantly? (Yes I know this would never be commercially or operationally viable, it's just a thought exercise to note the incredible demand for classic flight rewards to London.)
