1h20 unprotected connection at KUL?

80 minutes with a terminal transfer and involving Air Asia.

There was no chance that was ever going to work. I wouldn't even risk it if no terminal transfer was required.

I wonder if there might have been a naive belief that if they had missed the AK flight due to delays etc. that they could cheekily ask AK to be reaccommodated on the next flight free of charge.

Sometimes experience is a better teacher than knowledge (as can the loss of a couple of hundred dollars).

Nope. They just didn’t believe that it was tight.

I told them to rebook before leaving. They didn’t. And then got to checkin and apparently then only realised bag drop closed an hour prior…
So then called me, but by then it was too late to get on the 7:30 MH so I said get on the 11pm. If they called on landing they would have made the 7:30 at least.
I assume they made the destination now!

When you all meet up again, and look back on this, everyone can have a good laugh about it. 🤭

Just booked two separate bookings at KUL, with 60 minutes between the first flight arriving and the second departing. Both with Scoot and HLO. Not terribly worried - as long as OLCI works - even if the first flight is substantially delayed, I am fairly confident the second one will be delayed by almost the same amount of time 🤣

But for normal situations involving onward travel, I think you'd want at least 4 hrs if not 5, especially if a terminal change is involved. But of course long haul-> short haul/frequent route is less of an issue than the second flight being a long haul or infrequent route.

Can't be a status run?

No. A lounge run. 🤣

Originally hidden city ticketing (saved us $300+ each), were going to ditch the SIN-KUL sector altogether.

However, we found a 20 hour layover in SIN (where we live) and $40 fare KUL-SIN, we decided to take the sector for a late afternoon/evening in the F lounge (through my partner's status). $40 seemed reasonable for a meal and a few coughtails. Despite having been to the new F lounge 15-20 times since it reopened, they've all been when the bar is closed (mainly between 10am and 2pm). So looking forward to having some coughtails this time.

Pilots flying faster to make up time
But in order to arrive on time?
The problem is that flying faster uses up a lot more fuel which they may not have , or be able to carry but we should ask one of the aviator contributors here to talk about the "flying faster to make up time/arrive on time after a delay"? @jb747 , @AviatorInsight
Yes, yes and yes I guess.
Though mostly can't have all 3.
