Interesting that they enforce the dress code. All cruises I have been on, there are always people dressed like slobs even at formal night dinners.

Keep the TR up!

QFWP, if the setup at Brisbane Dock is anything like Melbourne Webb Port I won't be able to walk to the outside area but have to take a shuttle bus direct from the ship that will only drop me off into the city.
Probably easier for me to find you then! Presume they pick you up as well from similar spot.

There are some shops at Portside, but not enough for the hoards that will descend the gangplank.

Love_the_life will be getting a taxi to the Port so she may have more chance but at that point will have her luggage and it's a messy place.
She'll have plenty with which to concern herself on Sunday.

I have a companion in my room now. He has lovely brown eyes. He's very low maintenance and doesn't take up too much space. View attachment 26149
But one isn't enough for kids/grand kids surely :o

Ha ha. My kids are 24 and 28. I'll be a real old dame before they get their act together.

How many children QF WP? They are only $18us. Surely they need one - Each?

It's wonderful on formal night to see the tuxedoes and long gowns. Officers in white uniforms and medals. Ladies in gorgeous saris. Love_the_life likes to wear something appropriately "local" for pacific balls. :D

QFWP, yep the shuttle buses leave from the same spot they drop us off in the city.

My kids have enough toys and 5 grandparents that enjoy buying them more toys at every opportunity :o. Lovely thought, but you keep it for those nights when the rolling of the boat means you want someone to cuddle.

I'm in a tux tonight - does that count :D

A long grass skirt instead of knee length, and sequins on the coconut bra? :)

Yup. That's the one. She likes a bit of glam, hence the sequins on the coconuts. <now I'm really ducking for cover>

I like this photo.
That bridge might be my undoing in 20 minutes. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1394754603.400191.jpg

Pushka, you'll be fine. I am challenged by heights (vertigo) but when I did the Bridge Climb about 10 years ago, I kept waiting for it to kick in, but it didn't. I even tested the wire rope because I didn't believe it would hold me if I slipped - passed with flying colours. Was amazing - you should have a great birds eye view of the QM2.

Major, it'll be posted on Facebook but I' not sure this thread is the appropriate venue for a photo - I'm not on the QM2 with Pushka. Then it would cause a stir :o

Easy Peasy bridge climb. Perfect weather with clear skies. Loverly.

QF WP, we are at the Grain terminal. As you know it is a large building a million miles from anywhere. I fly into BNE tomorrow and then will embark on Sunday, hopefully not with hordes of others. The passenger shuttle if it is the same as other ships, will drop Pushka off at Elizabeth/George so it is right in town. We are hoping to meet for coffee on Sunday morning.
Pushka, keep ducking! Any more cracks about coconuts could be nasty
Glad the bridge climb was fun. Have never done it but I am super height challenged. I even had a bit of a wobbly climbing up a large step on a concrete "jetty" in the Galapagos - had to kneel and then gradually stand up as there was nothing to hold on to and I do have short legs! (Ducks disease - bottom too close to the ground).

I booked a guarantee cabin this time, A1, inside upper deck. Today allocation came through and it looks like I have scored a sheltered balcony on deck 6 which is well above the category I paid for. Sometimes you can be lucky! (Unless things change in the next day or so).
I am just putting the last of the "gowns" in my case. I have never taken so much stuff on holiday before. Usually I am about 16 kg even for 6 weeks in Europe. I think I will be well over that this time. Maybe the 8 pairs of shoes have something to do with it . Usually I take 3! I can see now how people say they take 6 cases when they are doing the full world cruise.

I wish I did know where that is - only been to Portside 3 times and only once was to see a boat (Greenpeace). However, that shouldn't be a problem as it is unlikely I will need to go there

So the top of the Wintergarden complex. Don't want to crash your get-together, so you can get all excited about the trip (as my availability is still uncertain, will know more tomorrow morning). What time is the shuttle pick up?

Sounds like you got an op up :D. Let's hope it sticks AND you are close to Pushka's cabin.

Now you are talking !! 8 pairs of jimmy choos

QF WP, shuttle is anytime this old dame gets her butt into action. But I'm planning on departing the ship at 9am to catch up with LTL. I'm sure you'd be welcome to gatecrash at the Hilton if you want. It's just the start of many long days and nights.

Hmmm. Just had a Nanna nap. That's the spirit. :). Makes up for the 4am noise when the pilot boarded near the heads.

All this adventure & you're not even in international waters yet!

Thats scary. That's still over a week away I reckon. We'll go quiet then unless internet works well. Seemed to be yesterday. Quite snappy it was.

QF WP - we would love to meet up with you! By the time Pushka gets in and I meet her to take her to the Hilton it will be after 10 I would think - if she manages to get on a 9am shuttle. I would not count on it - aim for 10 am Pushka, miss the mobs and have a sleep in! It's about 40 - 45 minutes to get from the Grain Terminal to the city.
Maybe I should put a rose between my teeth so you can recognise me! Easy to pick out - short (5 ft). chubby, will definitely be wearing trousers as I don't do skirt and 60 plus  (Though people say I have a young face - they're probably just being polite!). Pushka will be easy to spot - younger, slimmer, fitter and wearing a lanyard with her QM2 room key (LOL). There is a long history to the wearing of your room key on a lanyard. Australians seem to like to do this. On the last cruise I was on, bling lanyards were all the rage! I never do the lanyard - I wear one at work so not on holidays!
