20% Reduction in Platinum/Platinum One Retention Thresholds (July/Aug/Sept Membership Year Ends)

I’m not sure I’ve have an interest in targeting QF LTP, even though I may have the years to do it (in my early 40s at this point).
The consensus seems to be that BA Gold (Lifetime OWE) is the way to go as that only requires 35,000 status credits with them. And BA has a double status credits promotion through the end of next year when booking a flight/rental car with their holiday subsidiary.
If I can’t continue to maintain WP, then I’m probably more likely to move most personal spend to better quality J carriers, with better timing for our movements, like SQ. Early days though - in fact not even there yet - so still very much TBD
One thing to consider is documenting where you do fly so you can gain some intelligence on which airlines you are most likely to fly and from there which frequent flyer programs are most lucrative. For instance, if you see yourself flying routes that a SkyTeam carrier would likely cover, going for top tier Air France status can be beneficial because 10 consecutive years of top tier status with them gives you lifetime top tier status. Similarly if you are flying state-side a lot going for United lifetime status (attainable after flying one million miles with United) can be beneficial.

Maintaining QF WP while LTG is not a bad situation. Eventually paid (and/or PC CR) earn will taper off. Someone younger with years of corporate paid J travel ahead might go for BA lifetime OWE. In hindsight, I probably would have!

I'm not sure that anything other than QFF LTG (i.e. LT OWS) is on the radar for me, to be honest. Happy to continue to earn and burn QFF points, which at this time and likely for the foreseeable future covers all my family's domestic travel, which we do in J, unless only a single class aircraft type is available. I'd miss the QF and other OW F lounges internationally, but when travelling in J, as we are also doing these days for all our international travel, the difference is really not great enough to justify the ongoing commitment to the cause. Others mileage might vary...

I'd have look at it if corporate travel was still a thing for me (it died with covid)... but even when it was, it was Flex Y, at best, with me paying my own way to upgrade fares, or trying to play the points upgrade game. Maybe if I find another business who treats me right I'll revisit that :)

Did you lose your job during covid? Good luck finding a new business if so :)

No - thankfully. If anything the role is bigger now, but I went from regular international travel, to zero travel. Zoom/Teams, and a less than ideal balance sheet position for the large-ish multinational I have a global role with means very few are on the road these days

(p.s. Sorry for all the OT chat, mods!)

Oh good. Sorry to assume! I’m lucky I suppose in that regard, we’ve bounced back to even more travel than pre-covid.

Ended up getting locked in today:

And now to wait it out a bit before chasing down my missing 425 DSCs from last month.
2023-24 should be my LTG attainment year.

Cheers,
Matt.
Ok, nearly 3rd.

One should take the Qantas website with a grain of salt for the first 3 or 4 days into your new year.

There are so many posts made on the first of a month indicating status has been retained when there may have been unusual aspects with requalification, only for the indicated status to change some days later
