Yes I've done that just in the past few weeks primarily for the Pullman at Olympic Park where we are staying for the Rolling Stones concert in March.

Plus you get a one night free certificate, which you could even use for a one night stay in Sydney on NYE next year with grand harbour view (if you feel like taking the risk of becoming the next king hit victim in front of the Mercure Potts Point...)

well I signed up at check in & got free internet 10% off would have been better. It would also have been handy if Centurion pointed that out since they booked the room!!

You need to get yourself a good Centurion TA. Mine suggested I sign up online when I asked her to book me a room at the Pullman.

Does anyone have a preference between Hertz & Avis I don't rent cars much but I'm going to LA a couple of times this year so I'll be renting something fun. I was thinking about a Corvette convertible or a 911 from Hertz as I'm in the presidents circle through centurion so the rates are fairly good. Is the Avis equivalent good better or the same? I'm not signed up with Avis yet but I could do if it's worth it.
Also any good deals with Hotels in LA or Vegas through Centurion that anyone's had?

Actually I am the opposite! Signed up with Avis ( presidents club) and not Hertz. Over the years they have been good to me. I even had great upgraded to Mercedes sports vehicles in Berlin TXL Avis. So happy with them. Other benefits include preferential treatment even when not booked under my name.

I use Hertz in Oz because of the Prestige collection but then I flip when in the US and use Avis because they seem to have better cars. I think it's worth signing up to get an Avis President's Club card and then checking out their range.

Was just in LAX a week ago. Took an upgrade at airport with Hertz (plenty was available). Astons, Lamborghini, Porsche etc. Chose a BMW 650i convertible which had 200 miles clocked - virtually new. Absolute pleasure to drive! Got mileage limit waived to unlimited - rented car for 6 days in total.

I just booked a car in the Premium category. Intention was always to upgrade at airport. Online prices for 'Dream Cars' is ludicrous as this way you are able to negotiate.

How does it work? You book a prestige car (or any car?) and then negotiate an upgrade to a dreamcar?

You book any car and then when at Hert you proceed to an upgrade operator. They have the 'dream' cars lined up curb side - they walk you through and show you what's available. From there you negotiate on an individual car. Paid $2.5k USD for a BMW 650i for 6 days - unlimited miles. They wanted $800 per day for an Aston (didn't attempt to negotiate). Much more expensive if you book online as well as limited miles.

Can't you buy a 650 for that in the US?

I was just replying to Pukka's query. Whether or not my Hertz Persidents Club (obtained via Centurion) helped in negotiating a better is an unknown, though I highly doubt.

I think the Amex gets you to the front of the queue and that's it. Mind you I was in Hawaii recently with a whole room full of people baying for blood as they'd been waiting for over an hour for service and they called for me by name because I was presidents club ( hertz) which was nice although I did feel everyone else wanted to stab me lol
