My point was when he is not in first and has to fight for positions. I believe (and Vettel's record suggests) he has more than enough skill and patience to pass other cars when fighting for positions. The earlier suggestion that he is likely to get frustrated and make mistakes is, in my opinion, wrong.

Some great amateur footage here - http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rqQbdE...top_uri=/watch?v=rqQbdEJsjHQ&feature=youtu.be

That caterham is really ugly.
Interesting comment that a lot of teams seem to struggling with the gear ratios - the 8 must be locked in before Melbourne with only one change allowed, versus last year where you selected 7 of 30 each race
I think the gear ratio selection will be more critical to how the season pans out than the nosecone or fuel efficiency. Whilst two cars in a team may have a different selection, it will only be a variation of a theme. The differences between teams will be more significant.

Looking forward to seeing if Ricciardo can really put it to Vettel this year. Itching for the March 16th!

Looking forward to the F1 season this yr as well.
What are the odds of Vettel getting booed this yr? and especially at Albert Park

Sorry but I have been watching grand prix's of the 50s this week on 7 Mate at 1400.
Now those were the golden years to me.Today had Mercedes making their comeback in 1954 with Fangio.

Ahh yes back when cars overtook each other for position on track (not the pits).. unlike modern F1.

Slightly OT but it seems that MS is making progress as doctors start the waking up process.
He reportedly blinked which is considered a good sign.

OK, I'm out on a limb here but I predict Lewis Hamilton will be the 2014 world champion. And I don't particularly like LH.

Buzzard,

Tend to agree with you that testing suggests Mercedes engined teams likely to be the standouts. and Hamilton obviously best positioned.
But think Massa in the new Williams Martini (good looking car as well) may be up there as a darkhorse

On a negative note, appears that the Softpauer Live Timing App has gone (last year the FY13 app launched pre Xmas) and the Softpauer website and live timing site have not been updated since late 2013, and mobile apps removed from the F1 website.
At present it appears the only Live Timing app will be the Java based (ie not working on any mobiles or tablets) version on f1.com

This will be a massive loss.

I think you may be right but winter testing has shown Massa in the Williams to be particularly quick. One thing is certain, lots of uncertainty!!!. I think the first few rounds will throw up some amazing results. Can't wait.

Don't get fooled by winter testing as you never know what fuel loads etc are being run. The first sessions in Melbourne will be a much better indicator. Red Bull are talking down their early potential but we've heard it all before so it's hard to tell.

LH would be a reasonable bet for champion, and according to sports betting agencies he is favourite but it's a long season and you never know. Go Kimi!

Last I heard (found an article about a week ago) they had tried to bring him out of his medically induced coma and were unsuccessful. So things not looking good, as the longer it takes, the less chance of a successful outcome.
The family had requested privacy and the journalists were getting bored hanging round the hospital , which is why news has dried up.
I am presuming medically induced coma essentially is an anaesthetic??
Not sure what unsuccessful means - the implication was that they had to re- anaesthetise him, would he be unconscious otherwise?
