Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Americans did not get a Californian president. They got an American President, just how the framers of their Constitution intended - a plurality of votes in a plurality of states. And the majority of voters did not actually vote - maybe they did not care who got in?.
To my mind, this is the heart of the matter. For all the feigned end of the world as we know it stuff from the Left/Democrats, the majority of US voters were so unmoved by the "final battle" that they did not turn out on election day. At best Hilary Clinton got 25% of the possible vote, and so the "popular vote" that people keep going on about tells us very little about what most US citizens think. The reality is neither candidate actually moved Americans to vote - the majority stayed home.

Tom Arnold claims to have the Trump outtakes from the show The Apprentice.

Arnold doesn’t appear to be joking in his claims and is asked about why he didn’t release the tapes multiple times. Here is one explanation for why he never released the tapes:

I’ll tell you why. Because when the people sent it to me, it was funny. Hundreds of people have seen these. It was sort of a Christmas video they put together. He wasn’t going to be President of the United States. It was him sitting in that chair saying the N-word, saying the C-word, calling his son a retard, just being so mean to his own children. Oh, this is so funny, this is this guy. The Sunday before the election, I get a call from Arnold’s CAA agent, sitting next to Hillary Clinton. They said, ‘I need you to release him saying the N-word.’ I said, ‘Well, now these people – two editors and an associate producer — are scared to death. They’re scared of his people, they’re scared of they’ll never work again, there’s a $5 million confidentiality agreement.’

But this is what always happens. Voting is non-compulsory, it happens on a work day, and for many people it involves a long wait.

The feeling, I think, is that the American nation will survive because its institutions are strong, they have freedom and all that stuff. Too big to fail.

I wouldn't say "feigned" horror, neither. There's a lot of people genuinely fearful that WW3 is going to start because of some stupid drone.

US spies have intercepted high ranking Russians celebrating Trumps win.

Senior officials in the Russian government celebrated Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton as a geopolitical win for Moscow, according to U.S. officials who said that American intelligence agencies intercepted communications in the aftermath of the election in which Russian officials congratulated themselves on the outcome.

Meanwhile evidence collected shows Putin directed cyber campaign to help Trump win.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an effort to help Republican Donald Trump's electoral chances by discrediting Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential campaign, U.S. intelligence agencies said in an assessment.
Russia's objectives were to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process, denigrate former Secretary of State Clinton, make it harder for her to win and harm her presidency if she did, an unclassified report released on Friday by the top U.S. intelligence agency said.
"We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S. presidential election," the report said. "We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments."

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

whatmeworry, you're on the wrong ferry/tram/plane/bus/train. It's not Putin!

Why don't you just blame Tony Abbott for Clinton's loss? After all, Abbott is responsible for very one of society's ills here, so he must be an influential figure worldwide.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Come on even if Putin directed Russian intelligence to hack the DNC it doesn't mean WikiLeaks used them as the source.Julian Assange denies it and a former UK Ambassador has said he was handed the emails by a DNC insider.
Added to that no one has denied that the leaked emails have been doctored-not even Hiliary. So it is the true words of Democrats that influenced the election in favour of Trump.
Then add the fact that the only irregularities found in the recounts was in Detroit where Hilary won 95% of the vote but over 60% of the polling booths had more votes than voters.

So whichever way you look at it this is a story with no basis and just a means of blaming anyone except Hiliary who was a poor candidate.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

There's now a story doing the rounds that Crooked Hillary wants to run for NYC Mayor - it would be hilarious to see her fail again!

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

So it was Not Ok to leak emails from Democrats which showed the true thoughts of the Democrats. Whether by Russians or 14 year old hacker it does not matter. We got to see the real Democrats. No fake news there.
While leaks about Trumps indiscretions are OK.

Interestingly during Obama vs Romney Election. Romney warned about Russia during that election and the leftist media and Obama, Hilary mocked him for that. The hypocrisy. Haha.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

We have been great friends with a couple in the US for about 25 years. Just got an email saying they have scored invites to Trump's inauguration next week.
Hopefully there will be pics to share with <others> et al. :p

According to CNN, President Obama and Trump have been briefed by US intelligence chiefs that the Russians have compromising personal and financial documents on Trump.

The classified documents were presented to both Mr Trump and President Barack Obama last week in a two-page synopsis added to an earlier report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. The bombshell disclosure adds an important dimension to the Russian interference story, suggesting that Mr Trump may want to aid Russia not simply because he agrees with President Vladimir Putin's world view but that he fears him as well.

If only I could give you a million likes - but I will give you one big one

When the Trumpster stated I'm going to 'Drain the swamp' why didn't he add 'And I'll extend the trough so we can get a few extra snouts in it'! His son in law as a special advisor? Oh yeah that's easily justifiable!

An unconfirmed report by a former British intelligence official.Even Buzzfeed which released the document says it has many obvious errors.
To me the obvious problem is that this document is dated 20/6/16 yet contains nothing of the hacking of the DNC which occurred in sept 2015 and March 2016.Why not?

Then there is the hypocrisy of the US-
Database Tracks History Of U.S. Meddling In Foreign Elections : NPR
This is hardly the first time a country has tried to influence the outcome of another country's election. The U.S. has done it, too, by one expert's count, more than 80 times worldwide between 1946 and 2000. That expert is Dov Levin of Carnegie Mellon University. I asked him to tell me about one election where U.S. intervention likely made a difference in the outcome.

Probably because the British intelligence community doesn't care about activity in the US only what happens in Moscow?

Probably because the British intelligence community doesn't care about activity in the US only what happens in Moscow?

But it has much more in it about Trump and Clinton with supposedly detailed incidents. So why not the supposedly major source of info on the USA.
And as I have previously linked a former UK Ambassador claims he met a DNC operative in Washington who gave him the emails which he then supplied WikiLeaks-that ambassador is named, the british intelligence officer isn't-so no real proof it really was written by an intelligence operative.
