Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Funny how Trump encouraged Wikileaks over a 100 times to leak, but now leaks about him are coming out, its all Fake News.

There is a big difference between what WikiLeaks put out and random "leaks".

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

According to CNN, President Obama and Trump have been briefed by US intelligence chiefs that the Russians have compromising personal and financial documents on Trump.

Donald Trump shown claims of Russian efforts to compromise him: CNN

As humorous as this would be, I'll believe it when I see the videos.

But as pointed out already, Donald paying women to piss on him is one of the least objectionable things you could say about him.

Kinky, very!

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

But it has much more in it about Trump and Clinton with supposedly detailed incidents. So why not the supposedly major source of info on the USA.
And as I have previously linked a former UK Ambassador claims he met a DNC operative in Washington who gave him the emails which he then supplied WikiLeaks-that ambassador is named, the british intelligence officer isn't-so no real proof it really was written by an intelligence operative.

MI6 works in mysterious ways:). (And they recently have developed a paranoid obsession with anything Russian.)

One of the presenters on The Project tonight used a brilliant term I had never heard before: Kleptocracy. After reading the meaning, this could easily relate to President-Elect Trump...

The Project caters to a small leftie-liberal audience.

One key presenter refuses to acknowledge the facts about dastardly acts of terrorism, including the Lindt cafe incident.

Mr Trump may not have been the ideal Republican candidate but the lefties in Oz ought to get over it, and remember that Mr Trump was democratically elected in part because of the 'in their own small world' Hollywood celebrities who enthusiastically backed the nasty Democrat who almost everyone thought would win. Ask some women whom that candidate has criticised what they think of her.

The ballot box won the election.

Considering he isn't even in power yet the conversation can be quite banal at times.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Without ever wanting to participate in an online political discussion, I cannot stop myself from stating that it is impossible for me to understand how any woman - any woman - could vote for DT, no matter what the alternative.

(No doubt I will regret entering the fray!)

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Black, white or yellow, male, female or fluid, gay or straight, young or old, educated or not, poor, wealthy or middle class, employed or not, and no matter what their religion, everyone got to vote for whoever they wanted; for whatever reasons they chose without needing to justify their decision to anyone else. That's how it should be. Given DT's obvious and well publicised shortcomings plenty of women DID vote for him so I guess his election just says volumes about what the perceptions surrounding Hillary were. It appears that, as a generalisation, women are prepared to put aside crassness but won't turn a blind eye to untrustworthiness even for one of their own.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

I just hope the aussie dollar keeps rising against the greenback!

After the Chinese New Year gold will slip back and the USD will move back up to counter that. The story being spruiked that Trump's presidency is causing the USD's fall is just an imaginative myth.

I knew that I would regret entering the discussion. :)
Have said my piece.
Bowing out.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

All the talk is about white men .... however, women had the deciding vote.

Trying to understand why people vote the way they do has long been a hot topic, and we are no nearer to knowing the answer now than when I studied it at Uni decades ago. The mixture of politics, psychology and economics will go on producing more and more learned texts.

As much as Trump is reviled by many, he is obviously popular with others, but getting in to the minds of many is beyond what we can reasonably expect. I feel about Paul Keating as others do about Trump - and regularly receive very negative responses when I mention it. I think it often comes down to our response to a person, and I am sure we all dislike some people on sight without ever really thinking about it.

However, when it comes to voting, I think very few make a decision on one issue alone.

These sort of stats always amaze me about the US. Could you imagine trying to generate this data in Australia? It's almost like the old South Africa. Do people carry cards which say 'White', 'Black' or 'Latino'? How do they get this breakdown? I see it in a lot of US marketing data too. I couldn't imagine doing a survey and asking people what race they were (or assuming which is worse). Is this data based on exit polls where the pollsters made their own judgments on race?

I answer quite a few surveys, both locally and US (thanks e-rewards). Frankly most have questions that in some way relate to age, sex and ethnicity. US always, but Australia really not that far behind.

This is why I don't argue about the result itself. People are entitled to vote for whomever they prefer. Democracy works.

ButI can't help but feel they're going to get a very harsh lesson in that trustworthiness issue you've mentioned. DJT has a long and storied history of looking out for DJT, and buggered be anyone else.

Apart from the census I've never been asked about my race in any survey I've done in Australia (that I recall anyway).
