Something like this perhaps. I love the strategically placed limos, very subtle, like the ceiling.

Wow Madame Tussaud got in quickly.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Yep just use the Democrats modus operandi. When something does not go right, blame someone else...

Yes that's true it's not a new formula.

But DJT now has a mandate, via a legal election, and a Republican controlled Congress to boot. And he's said numerous times he has the solution to America's ills, such as he defines them.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Founding fathers have put in place checks and balances that prevents or at best tempers any real action. Trump the businessman deal maker may find the checks and balances frustrating.
Now the businessman needs to be a politician. Lets see how it goes.

I've been wondering about this lately. Heard Kim Beazley speak the other day, and he was saying the US system is based on consensus in order to get anything done. But it seems to me that their entire setup is designed to avoid anything too major being done. Elections of some kind every two years, and their electoral cycle itself seems never ending.

How any sort of governing gets done is a miracle.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

US Congress elections:

House of Reps: Elections every two years held in even years (except house delagate for Puerto Rico which is 4 year term - same a POTUS)
Senate: 6 year terms. Elections for 1/3 of senate every 2 years so the senate elections are staggered

The place is in perpetual election mode.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

My favourite comment in recent days (assuming it wasn't fake news) was a Trump supporter celebrating the imminent demise of Obamacare, at the same time suggesting he was very happy with his cover under the Affordable Care Act which is much better than Obamacare :-)

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

There is a poignant scene in the movie, 'Jackie' that shows Lady Bird looking around the WH looking at fabrics for the redecoration just after the assassination before Jackie is even off the premises.

I had heard that he has already refurbed the Oval Office in gold...but this may perhaps be a step too far for the taste of us mere mortals..

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Haha those kids look as though they really did not want to be there either.

Barron, its OK mate. Id hate to wear a suit and tie the entire day. Computer games are more fun!. Did they take your iphone away and give you a blackberry?. Carpy games on blackberries....

Dont worry its now Ok to get your own secret private iphone!! Just dont let the FBI know!

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Would rather a 70 year old who endured a gruelling campaign without a collapse while walking to the car.
Harsh.

I came down with acute pneumonia and pleuritis last year and went from well to acute respiratory distress and "collapse" in under 8 hours (I couldn't continue wirth my trip for days). Clinton had pneumonia for days before the 9/11 ceremonies and didn't take time off as per doctor's orders, so it was unsurprising her illness finally caught up with her.

(Funny, I always thought you were a medico and hence found your comment "intemperate")

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Should it?

I'd imagine it's more likely the kid has had enough of putting on suits and ties and would rather be out doing something fun.
Certainly that's the impression I get from the photo above.

And everything about that photo deserves a little bit of a mocking.

Yes it should be obvious, GarrettM. In every video clip & pic I've seen of the boy since he appeared on stage when Donald won the Republican nomination his mannerisms have been very typically ASD. If you've ever seen Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man" the similarities are obvious.

Here’s what get me outa here had to say at post #592: ”I'm wondering what is with Barron who seems to be dissociated from everybody. When we see children on the stage with their political parents, they usually manage to look vaguely engaged with the adults and close to one or both parents. Barron and his parents don't seem to even look at each other never mind have physical contact”.

And here’s what you had to say at Post #594: “Doped up the eyeballs probably. Is what a less generous person than I might say”.

Both these posts preceded the posting of the actual picture you just referred to so clearly the picture wasn't what precipitated the comments.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Yes harsh but others calling out Trump's age as somehow a disqualifying reason is equally harsh. Just highlighting the hypocisy.
At the time of her "collapse" it was discounted as only mild pneumonia and dehydration. No one bought it. It was obviously more serious. If Clinton did take leave it would have called her fitness into question (rightly or wrongly). She decided against advice. Someone who thinks better than their physician either has great insight or poor insight. In this case poor insight.

2016 US Presidential Election

I'm not sure why it should be obvious to all when someone is on the spectrum of autism. However whether it is fair to be discussing a 10 year old is another issue altogether. The wives? Open slather :p

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

I have stayed away from commenting on Melania. My view is that its better for her to do whatever she wants rather than pretend she is trying to fix some (usually) social problem - maybe she can solve one of those "difficult" world peace problems that DT's Miss universe pageant asks of its contestants:lol:.

But seriously what a spouse or partner does or does not do should not matter. If she wants to be a stay at home mother then that should be as respected as someone who is a CEO.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

It is going to be a very interesting few years... I wonder if he still has his mobile phone...

A) I haven't seen Rain Man.
2) The only pic I have seen of the boy is the one referenced. I haven't seen him in any footage. I don't watch Donald's speeches as much as I listen to them through non-visual media.
3) Indeed my response preceded the pic referenced. It was a tongue in cheek reply to another comment. And if it caused you personal offence, I apologise. However I stand by my post-pic comments.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

He has been required to surrender his samsung galaxy in favour of a secure encrypted device. Much like Obama who was an avid twitter user. Interestingly when Obama used twitter he was lauded. The same people are now critisizing Trump for doing the same.

Apparently that wont stop him using his own personal twitter account as well as the POTUS handle
