Re: The totally off-topic thread

Well, the woman the American people obviously don't want in the White House is Hillary Rodham Clinton. Maybe they don't want Bill back in the Oval Office soiling the carpets again either! Maybe they thought of Hillary and Obama leaving their 4 fellow American citizens (including their Ambassador) to be burned to death in Benghazi because it was politically expedient not to mount a rescue attempt, and then try and blame others. Maybe they are sick and tired of being lied to about emails and the sordid money trail from the Clinton Foundation...........

As for Melania, I didn't realise she was running for election, and so what if she is not practiced in giving speeches? Of course she's very rich and married to Donald so obviously there are plenty who want to believe she therefore must be a bimbo, or worse. How disgusting that the unelected First Lady is attractive too - because we all know anyone who's attractive can't be any good at anything! I think it's unbecoming to unsheathe the claws long before she has been given a reasonable chance to prove herself, or otherwise. Yes, Donald is arrogant and crude - neither of which are attributes which indicate he can't be a successful President so I'll reserve my judgement until we see how he performs.

As bad as Trump seems what does that say about Clinton when people choose him over her. I think that speaks volumes.

The totally off-topic thread

Milania has been giving quite a few speeches lately so her performance can be judged. She represents her husband and therefore has thrown herself open to scrutiny. Sure, she was not up for election but she is part of the package. In one speech she used a previous speech made by Michelle Obama. That doesn't strike me as being politically clever. Sure, the speech writer wore the blame.

I don't really care what she looks like, so not sure why you think her looks are important?

I agree though that Clinton is tainted goods.

I operate on values-driven belief system. My Achilles heel and also a strength. I don't believe that arrogant crude men have the right to represent the most powerful country in the world. And I worry about his decisions.

The speech writer wore the blame because the speech writer wrote every word of every speech Melania has given. That's just the way things are because everything is heavily scripted. The media love to report any faux pas because they are desperate to find fault with Melania or anything else about the Trump camp.

And as for looks, I don't think they're important and never suggested they were. In fact I was trying to get that point across and I mentioned it only because another poster did refer to her somewhat derogatively as a "Barbie".

:shock:I wonder what they will find when a Trump &Co drains the Washington Swamp.

Would rather liars and the corrupt not run for anything either. Bill? Well wasnt he two timing Hilary for a while ?. So if he can be El Presidente so can any other mere mortals. I do draw the line at Weiner:shock:

I don't think Bill was running for election, either.

Terrible result for my Super ....

I am amused that so many [apparently] intelligent people think that the sky is falling.

Very good time for traders...

Sod the traders ... what about the non tradees?

I can see the positives in Trump's election for the Oz election scene. People will be less inclined to be told what to do by the politically correct and their Canberran 'masters'.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Your gold stocks should do allright.Gold going up,AUD coming down a double boost.
OK for my super-there are ETFs which you can use if you feel the market is going to fall.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Yeah, up between 3 and 8% today; probably more tomorrow, and I guess the bank's earnings (divvies) won't be impacted that much.

I am amazed that, after the Brexit 'shock' that people are 'shocked' that this could come about - exactly the same phenomena: people not willing to 'admit' to pollsters etc the option which the media and others are insisting is the 'stupid' one, although the non compulsory voting in the US is an additional wild card in predicting the result.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Terrible result for my Super ....

Only if you panicked and sold. The SPI was at 5300 at midday today and plunged to around 5030 when a Trump win looked likely. It is now back to around 5220 so it's on par with where it's been trading in the last week or more. Expect it to move to a new (recent) high of 5400 within days. So you should thank Donald Trump when your super kicks up above where it was this morning.

The S&P 500 (futures) went down to 2030 today but already back to 2100 - only 40 points off overall. It too will rise further.

Gold was rising last week but it will fall now that the result is known and certainty of President achieved. Will be back to 1270 in no time. Gold stocks will fall along with that. History is a great teacher for those who care to look it up.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

I'm shocked, shocked to find that an ABC presenter might have an anti-Trump bias.

Virginia Trioli red-faced over Melania Trump breast comments

ABC Breakfast presenter Virginia Trioli has been caught referencing on air Melania Trump’s breasts and arguing American voters should be forced to take an “IQ test”.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Was annoyed watching Ch10 and their panel of mainly women. With the women saying 'I am a feminist and really wanted to see the first female President'. Groan. I am pleased I don't call myself a feminist if being female was their criteria of success.

Ho hum. No good candidate really.

Plus you have Southern politicians bragging about stopping blacks and Hispanics from voting.

The Democrats had 3 candidates that could have easily beat Trump, Bernie, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden. Instead the DNC were beholden to the corporate cash Hillary brought in and probably the reason he won. Even that Libertarian moron got 3%.

Which is exactly what the Southern Democrats used to do.
Which party voted fior the 12,13th and 14th amendments which abolished slavery, gave blacks equal rights and the vote.
Which party voted 80% for the 60's Civil Rights bills and which only voted 60%.
PS It wasn't the Democrats.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Most vote republican now anyway.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

On the other hand have the Democrats done anything for the poorer African americans.the democrats have controlled the larger cities for some 80 years and their predominantly African America inhabitants have gone backwards. So basically they are enslaved. It is in the Democrats interest that they remain dependent on Government handouts.
