From the replays, it looks like Valtteri broke really early to let Lewis through. You can also see it from Max's on board that he was behind going into the breaking zone but sailed right past Valtteri on the outside. I dont think there's much Daniel could have done. Valtteri was kind of parked at the apex of Turn 1

Daniel unlucky - Valterri didn’t leave him anything, and i think the stewards got that right (racing incident). If Daniel had driven off into the distance and Valterri then last they may have considered otherwise. SHame for RIC who would have had a much better result.

What Valterri was doing NOT protecting the racing line from pole and letting Verstappen sail around the outside….only he knows (acknowleding it all happens super fast…..).

Sprint Race weekend coming up.

First Qualifying tomorrow morning Oz time with Sprint Qualifying Sunday.

Something to watch while munching breakfast.

Ric progressing backwRds

Merc so much faster than rest of the field - P20 to p5 in 29 laps and braking 20m later into T1 (from a higher speed) than the McL…….

Dan actually looked like he had a good start, but got caught up behind Ocon and lost places as a result.

After that just didn't have the same speed advantage like Hamilton and couldn't get passed Vettel.

Piastri confirm as Alpine reserve driver for 2021.

Gio leaving Alfa,
And Zhou confirmed for the final Alfa Romeo seat.

Mercedes are asking the FIA to review the “ no action necessary “ ruling by the stewards following VER pushing HAM wide in an overtake attempt in Brazil on Sunday.
Apparently new footage is now available
( presumably of In car VER ) which they believe reinforces their view that VER deliberately ran wide at the corner.
The two teams are niggling each other.

It's all becoming rather childish. Well actually it was childish before. Now, well, it's getting pretty pathetic!

I thought HAM post race conference comments says it all really - nothing to see essentially.

Red Bull also insinuating they think something is illegal in the rear of the MB (but haven’t protested). “Saving” it up perhaps?

I agree, it has become a little childish and tit for tat but there are millions of $$ at stake for the constructors championship finishing position. I expect there is plenty more to play out this season.

VER has been told to front the Stewards for not slowing for double yellow flags in the final lap of Q3 ( for GAS car ). Apparently the precedent for this is a 5 place grid drop. Bottas and Sainz also told to appear for the same incident
( but only single yellow for them ). Meeting scheduled for Sunday morning before the race. This might change the grid line up.

I watched qually this arvo and was surprised that HAM found so much pace in his last lap. The Mercs could be hard to beat this race.

BOT penalise 3 places and VER 5.

Well... tyres made things interesting. Alonso looked after his well to hang on to 3rd place which the VSC definitely helped with, but good to see VER get the extra point. Unfortunate for PER and means a slightly bigger gap between Mercedes and RBR in the constructor's championship but sets things up for an exciting last few races.

Pretty crazy.
The hype is going to be epic going into Abu Dhabi.

In F2 another win in a shortened half points race for Oscar Piastri which finished under reds with a look back after over half the cars pitted. Gives him a 50+ point lead in the F2 championship, which is all but game over (not mathematically but practically given the nature of the reverse grid races)

VER given a 10 second penalty for braking and causing HAM to crash into him whilst relinquishing the lead as instructed by the Stewards. Like HAM he didn't want to cross the DRS activation line first.
This is on top of the 5 second penalty already given during the race but doesn't alter the podium as BOT was still too far behind.

Bit late watching this due to Bathurst...thank God for that echidna...

F1 had everything but rain...
They really need to rewrite some rules and make penalties consistent.
All behaving like spoiled brats.
