Hi all, am a mad Sydney Swans fan, was there on Friday night at the Prelim which was great fun. Unfortunately have found out this morning that my old man and I have missed out on tickets in the Swans ballot through our memberships. So thought I would throw a hail mary out the community here if anyone knows of avenue to get 2 x tickets? Appreciate any assistance!

Yea I am an MCC member, and know how that all works. Unfortunately I am a restricted MCC member, not full MCC member.

The only difference between full membership and restricted membership is access to the GF. And the only way to go from restricted to full is time….wait and wait…and wait some more years...

But on the day, MCC monitors how many full members are coming through the gate, and they are very good with the data, so on occasion to fill it up they open to restricted members at about 11am. Have to then pay an approx $150 ‘upgrade’ fee to get in. Whereas full MCC members pay nothing to get in to the GF.

I was lucky got a seat to the grand final ballot which came through at 12:30.

Purchased business flights in July and burnt some IHG points at a similar time.

I will be packing long sleeve shirt cap and sunscreen.

Where are you travelling from and who are you supporting? Looks like a dockers shirt in your profile pic!?

Same here. Flew down from Brisbane to watch the Prelim with Dad and then spent half an hour negotiating with the QANTAS app to grab him an airfare while he drove the M5.
So having said that, we both have flights to/from MEL + a hotel, and now just looking for a pair of tickets.

I picked up a J return with VA for about $800 in June, convinced Mrs Hawk that as they're fully refundable it was a quasi-savings account if the Swans didn't make it!

Are the Scalpers or mobs like Viagogo selling?
Or is this not a thing anymore?
It's a prescribed match by the Vic government, so if you get caught selling for over the face value, there's a fair penalty. Having said that, a lot of people who bought packages are trying to offload for face value now whilst the market is hot with disappointed Swans & Lions fans.

Dilemma for the day (as a Swans fan) - take one ticket in a Lions bay (at cost price of $410)....or hang out for the chance that two tickets will come available???

Caution - There is always the risk, albeit small, that tickets purchased through non-accredited sellers do not provide access on the day due to cancellation or non-genuine.

True. For mine this is friend of a friend, so I am trusting that its legit, however (as always) caveat emptor.

And they can package that with an extra and say that was the majority of the price.

We had that happen at a theatre event. The people directly behind us had purchased from Viagogo. Then the original purchasers showed up. The usher knew who had paid for the original tickets and the viagogo people were led out the door.

However our experience with viagogo was excellent. We wanted tickets to the opening round of the AFL a few years ago. We scored seats on the boundary and kept them. Expensive though.
