2024 F1 Thread

Did anyone else watch the F3 Monza Feature Race? If not, do yourself a favour and watch it. If you're pressed for time, watch it from lap 19 (of 22). What a cracker of a race!!!

Just caught up on today's F2 Monza Feature Race. I'm not going to give away the result, but... wow!! Another race that it well worth watching!

If the F3 and F2 races are indicative of what's to come in tonight's Grand Prix, then we could be in for an awesome race!!

Mansell definitely very generous on that final corner in F3.
Finishes 5th himself in F3 despite no race wins

Oscar drove so well but in the end it was C le c
Dont know how those tyres did not shred!
Great drive from Oscar, but you have to say, brilliant drive from Charles. And even more surprising is Ferrari absolutely nailing the strategy!! (And I say that as a Ferrari fan 😜)

Good debut race from Colapinto. Don't really see Sargeant doing any better, so you'd have to say that Williams' decision to put Colapinto in the car has been justified.

Shame for Daniel. Obviously his fault in terms of getting the penalty, but such bad luck copping the additional penalty. Feel so sorry for that mechanic... and seeing his reaction as soon as he'd touched the front wing, you just know how devastated he would've been with his error. Still, an angry Honey Badger made for a good one-stop race. His recovery drive was actually pretty good.

Frustrating for Oscar….fair play Ferrari, had to roll the dice and it worked for them.
Salty Sky commentators/English cheerleaders spitting chips all race about Oscar passing Lando lol

No surprise hearing Crofty being his usual parochial self. To be fair to Martin, he was considerably more measured and commented on more than one occasion that whilst he believed McLaren didn’t do themselves any favours, on the balance of things he had to admit Oscar was the faster driver.

Great Race.
Except for the idiots and their flares...the crowd was huge after the race.
Rosberg calling it as it is too...he will be fired soon.

And comments in the press are suggesting that McLaren are going to review Papaya team orders to assist Lando to win the championship.

Papaya Rules was "explained" on bbc but I didn't understand.
New team orders being talked about is to assist Manufacturers championship I think.

Zak Brown said the phrase was a reminder of the rules of racing for their two drivers: “Race each other respectfully, give each other enough room and don’t touch each other,” he said. “And that’s exactly what they did.”

Red Bull not having two good drivers is biting them now as McLaren and Ferrari having both drivers earn valuable points. It's nice to see F1 sometimes actually being a team sport.

Lando needs to work on his driving to assist himself to win the Championship. Sook.

Yes. I've spending more time watching the F2 and the F3 races. Their sprint races are always entertaining from a racing point of view. Agree that Mansell did a stellar job, even in the Sprint Race where he had to start from the pit lane after a gremlin prior to the start.
Monza is a cracker race!!
I watched it this morning on Kayo Mini. I'm going back to rewatch the whole race tonight, as it was so thrilling for a change.

Was a good race for a change. Much better and more entertaining now that RB is stuck in the pack instead of 4 minutes in the lead.

Funnily enough I just made the same comment to another AFFer (who I just watched the race with) re: Ferrari strategy ;)
