I read in above post that they are going to reduce ground time with aircraft int.,common sense says if it isn,t flying.. it is not making any money .I have seen aircraft sitting at lax for a whole day,lhr also for a whole day,other airlines fully utilies their aircraft.

news reports are saying qantas called in extra security... my question is... for what? deliver bad news then call in security to intimidate workers?

Presumably to protect assets. Qantas staff are professional but they could be forgiven for setting the Qantas logo on fire at terminals around the country today.

I certainly hope the Westin has extra security. I know where I'd be heading if I was in Sydney.

Sky: Qantas on-time performance dropped to 78% yesterday, suggesting a number of staff are already calling in sick.

I would not draw such hasty inference based on the circumstances. There were some thunderstorms in Sydney yesterday evening which may explain the drop in on-time performance.

+1 to that. Just looked at options now from Perth to Singapore. Either direct on jetstar, stopover in Bali on jetstar asia or via Melbourne!
