Just received my latest QF Frequent Flyer Activity Statement: Current Lifetime Status Credits: 60,981.

ChrisGibbs, that is huge and I feel much better now :)

Uneventfully passed 30k last week on an EK plane, QF flight number.

called QF to see if I could use a points upgrade to F. Turns out you can't on EK metal even if you have a QF flight number. Felt disappointed by that since QF flights rationalized, so fewer options for points upgrades, but upgraded the second leg which was on QF metal.

EK boarding pass (even tho QF flight #) prints "QF platinum", so I figure no recognition of platinum 1.

Couldn't select EK's version of "emerald city" when checking in (usually get it with my EK ff #) being rows 6 & 7 on the 777.

then I notice as I'm walking to gate that my seat has been changed from what I selected online. Hmm wonder why they did that. No big deal.

uneventful flight to DXB. Proceeded to A380 terminal to First class lounge (finally no more lining up 30 mins for a shower). Turns out the new F lounge is more like an F concourse which connects to each gate directly.

lady at the F lounge entrance takes my BP, looks at me and says "why are you flying Qantas and not Emirates?"

Im a bit surprised by the question (I thought this was a partnership...). Felt a bit inappropriate, but then I start asking myself the same question... I figure I should get 800k+ tier miles a year and start to wonder if that would get me IO... I make a mental note to refresh my understanding of the skywards programe when I get a chance...

huge "lounge", must be me and 5 other passengers, but plenty of EK staff rushing around. Nice shower room (can fit my bag in the room unlike in j lounge shower stalls). grab a quick bite at the buffet. Very nice food, love middle eastern cuisine

hop onto QF A380 and settle into f throne... Hope QF can make this work.

So why are you flying QF in F? :)

Random words of the day: on board internet, on board shower, massive private suite, onboard bar, more IFE options.

I have flown both many times and they are both great however up until recently I felt QF had a better overall offering with P1 (and associated easier upgrades), F lounge, more personalised service, better airport at Changi and points that dont expire. Now that EK has introduced platinum and F lounge access, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Dragging up this old thread for self interest. I will finally pass 28000 SC's on Monday giving me a total of 28009 SC's.

So did any of the other members posting on this thread that have passed the 28000 SC hurdle receive the rumoured unwritten benefit of LTP?

HUGE CONGRATS.

I'm totally amazed.

Nice one Reggie & congrats Im basically half way to 28,000, LOL.

Well done Reggie, am a bit over halfway to that mark, but recently have been chasing VAriety with AAnother program, not counting WP1 as worthwhile.

I reckon people like you should have a personalised cutlery set on every flight booking since the in-flight meals must be as frequent as the home-cooked ones :D

Well done Reggie!

You got me thinking - I must be close too. Right now, I'm 362 SCs shy of your mark - at the end of next week, it will be just 222 SC; at my current average earn rate, I should hit the 28K mark in about a month's time.

Well done Reg. Unfortunately I've since passed 33k but no sign of LTP or any further benefits.

Mmmmm ok, so you're still with QFF, not jumped to Skywards or AAdvantage. I'm starting to consider the lost opportunity of being able to upgrade on EK metal. It's great having QF points, but not much use when QF metal is disappearing and I want to upgrade.

Especially from PER .

I'm going the long way to LHR via MEL. That means one sector MEL-LHR on the DONEx for big SCs - and it opens up the opportunity of an F UPG on the A380, so I always do it that way anyway . But as a SFSC, I've got the time ;).

I'm expecting nothing at 28K - apart from applause from some folk on AFF, of course .

I decided to send a letter to QFF with my concerns (which unfortunately is still on my computer) and separately I'm catching up with the EK state manager in a few weeks when I'm back in Aus to chat about the merits of transferring across. Based on the outcome of those two actions I'll then decide on AA.

If you are comfortably able to hit AA EXP then for me it is a no-brainer. If also earning CC points and happy to slum in J if upgrades don't come through that works as well. If able to get WP and EXP then that is the perfect situation - Book QF flights and leave WP number in booking until upgrade clears or not and then put in AA number. Personally I would be "happy" in J and would consider dropping my point earning CC. I only had 2 years as AA EXP and earned enough points for two RTW in J and F and two people J return to london.

Well done Reggie!!

I'm only half way, so I still can hope QF will introduce LTP by the time I get to 28k :)

I knew a woman who claimed to have been given LTP when QF changed from tier credits to SCs in the late 1990s. She told me they didn't want to give it to her but she insisted because she considered that was the equivalent of what her status had been before the change. Sadly she recently died unexpectedly so that was the end of her LTP.

Jobu, have you received a response from QFF as yet? Curious to see what your decision was.

Well my 28k came and went with nothing. My hoped for opup went to a politicians wife and au pair on there way back from holidays. I know this as I heard her telling the FA on the connecting flight, and that she had to choose which of the 2 children to leave down the back, buts that a story for numerous other threads.

back OT, so no love, will see what the future holds.
