We took the return Airport Express back to the airport. Arrived 3 hrs before the flight and the check in area was fairly empty.
Suite class boarding pass issued

and we were on our way to SQ Krisflyer lounge.

Bar - variety of spirits available and limited coughtail menu
01482831056.jpg
There is a dedicated first class section in the lounge
01482831099.jpg

The first class lounge is a big square room, with its own dining area.
Plenty of seating available for the ratio of first class seat onboard

Ordered the satay but it didn't taste as good as I hope for. They served it with rice, which I find it odd. Then again, we are in HK.
01482831459.jpg
No PH Rare in this lounge :p
01482831896.jpg

We were greeted at the door and taken to our seat, 3C and 3D.
01482868991.jpg
This is the refurbished suite class with the seat featured a much darker leather.
01482869102.jpg
TomVexille was right - the screen is small in comparison to the size of the suite.
01482869147.jpg
A choice of Dom or Krug was on offered
01482869182.jpg
No amenities were offered for this short flight but eye mask, socks and slippers were provided as we taken our seat. More amenities (toothbrush, razor) are available in the toilet. Spacious toilet and I like the sink
01482869319.jpg

Limited storage around the seat
01482869499.jpg
Think the basket was meant for rubbish?
01482869523.jpg
Power outlet
01482869580.jpg
More storage under the ottoman which could easily fit a cabin luggage. It was a light load so stored our luggages in another cabin
Alleyway

Took the window seat for takeoff

I think that receptacle is for your glasses whilst sleeping rather than rubbish

Drink menu
01482870842.jpg
Champagne and white wine
01482870859.jpg
Red wine and port
01482870887.jpg
coughtails

Spirits
01482870933.jpg
Quite a selection of non alcoholic drinks including teas (from TWG) and coffees. One that stood out was the Red Christmas tea and the blue mountain coffee.

Given it was a short flight, lunch was served immediately after takeoff.
Continued with my champagne while +1 ordered a whisky
Was intrigued by the charcoal bread - it was a brioche
01482876413.jpg
Starters and soup course - the double boiled soup reminds me of mum's cooking
01482876464.jpg
Salad
01482876512.jpg
Main - noodle was too soft for my liking. I could barely finish my main as I was full
01482876524.jpg
but there is always room for dessert
01482876546.jpg

The crew on this flight was very proactive - they converted seat 2C and 2D for us to rest without us asking.
01482888072.jpg
They set it up well, including the teddies
01482888095.jpg
The quality of the pillow and duvet was good. The bed on the other hand was a tad firm.
The twin engine

Landing into Singapore
01482888127.jpg
Long queue in immigration - no premium line (first world problem). Our ride to Little India on the other hand was smooth

We had purposely planned for a short layover in Singapore (we've been many times). We've booked 2 nights at Wanderlust Hotel in Little India, a Design Hotel as part of SPG partnership. The daily rates was SG$130 inclusive of breakfast

Love the innkeeper act

We were allocated the Pantone Room on level 2
Shower and toilet each with the sink in the middle

Interesting layout and the tiles reminded me of shower :erm:

A long and narrow table over the walls with a Handy Phone

No one room (29 in total) is identical over the 4 levels. We were not expecting this but hey, it's quirky and welcome out of the norm experiences :)

For the evening, we had planned for Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel
Decided to walk as it was not far
Bugis Night Market - lots of fruit juices. Beware, they add sugar to the juices

Love how they put the hand fan together - oldskol

Very touristy as a few tour groups came by during our visit but was brought up the stairs to level 3

For our 2nd day, it is all about culinary experiences Singapore has to offer. Hawker food. Since breakfast was included (had no intention of eating at the hotel), we thought of checking it out.
Communal table in the centre of the restaurant.

Had to order the roti jala to share (epic failed for not planning on ordering anything)

To ensure we had a smooth travel for the day, we bought a visitor MRT day pass for $20 ($10 deposit for the card). This allow us unlimited rides on MRT and buses for the entire day.
First up, Ang Mo Kio for the fried carrot cake.
01482901565.jpg
Why AMK one ask? I'm familiar with the place and they do a good fried carrot cake.

Next up Orchard Road - this one doesn't have the Christmassy feel

A morning tea snack, muah chee - glutinous rice with peanut

For lunch , we hit up Hougang Ave 8 for the omelette oysters and fried Kuey teow. It's a fair way to travel but heard the oysters were huge and the omelette is tasty
01482902026.jpg
Hit every spot - worth the travel
01482902061.jpg
Took the train back to Little India to drop of some shopping
Colourful shop
