Looking at this objectively - it's not the greatest bang for buck for 30K points
but let's say you burn 30K on slightly below point value wine that you would have ordered anyway, you're only paying the difference between that rate (
lets say 0.8c which seems to be roughly the going rate for qantas wine - maybe closer to 0.77c but there are some specials as well actually this is not true, its all over the place, I get anything from 0.5 to 0.85 for most products, avoid bonus points offers by the looks of things as their value seems to be the worst, just bring your calculator and look for 0.77c and above as decent value comparitively) and a nominal acquisition value (I use 1.1c) for those 20SCs.
So... if 30K of points nets you $240 of wine and 1.1c is a nominal value you agree with, you've spent $90 on 20SC or $4.50 per SC. Given my dearth of other opportunities and the need for LTSC, it works for me.
Also the products appear to have to be marked as eligible for this offer so now I really don't know what's good or bad value anymore... look for this:
