40000 points for Ultimate Card

I think for the ultimate card getting a waiver would be a struggle. After all, a domestic flight is included as part of the deal. The premium card does not have this free flight, so it is somewhat easier for them to offer a waiver. Now this offer would give you a free flight and 40,000 points and something has to pay for all that.

Maybe I should not make such rash pronouncements. Out of the blue today, an offer arrived in the mail for the ultimate card, fee free for the first year, offering 30,000 points. Very tempting!

I got this offer as well... It says the first 20K (I think) are for 'new' customers... does that mean COMPLETELY new to Amex or to the card do you think....?

I believe that it meant new to the Ultimate card. My plan is to swap an existing card for this one, so I would hope so. In any case, given that there is a free flight included I will still be in front

Really? Where can I get one? Can I sign this one on the web? Or is it invitation only?

It is by invitation and comes in the mail, with a fill in the enclosed form type application. I don't know if it is availaable on the web anywhere.

* Was the offer by itself..or did it come with a stateement?

*Do you have other AMEX cards?....if so which ones

It is part of the 20 years of FF celebration, so who knows it may be widened to others in some form.

I have a Platinum Credit Card, and a (free) Gold credit card. I was about to shut the gold one down, but am thinking of converting it to the ultimate and shut that just shy of a year later

QFF members who have the Platinum card. Maybe AMEX are looking to migrate the Platinum Card holders to the Ultimate Card??

I've never done this before but decided to take up the offer on this card. I'm happy with the Amex Gold card I've had since 1986 so will probably just make a few purchases on the new card to get the 30K points and then dispose of it before the renewal as I don't want to pay the large annual fee.

Well, I have just had ~ 65,000 points post for my first statement with the Ultimate card (the 40k promo) so am pretty happy with that. Unfortunately the offer I signed up for did not include the first year fee free, but will see what discount / offset I can get at this time next year.

Not wanting to get personal, but how did u get the 65k in ur first month.

I am guessing u must have spent 25k with some on QF ???

Also,
are the people that are talking about a lower fee, as part of the 20 year celebration, does it still come with the free flight each year ?

If so i will be upset ,,, i got the card 2 months ago, and am up for the full fee !!!
