are the people that are talking about a lower fee, as part of the 20 year celebration, does it still come with the free flight each year ?

If so i will be upset ,,, i got the card 2 months ago, and am up for the full fee !!!

MM

It's fee free for the 1st year and yes it comes with a free flight each year (including the 1st year - without a fee paid).

So it seems that the extra 10k of points that i got, has cost me the $395 fee,

That is some expensive points !

wonder if there is anyway of getting mine changed ??

I doubt it, anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?

oh also, on the 40K offer you must spend 5K by december 31st !

Shano,

Not wanting to get personal, but how did u get the 65k in ur first month.

I am guessing u must have spent 25k with some on QF ???
Correct - although with 2.5 points per dollar with QF and 1.5 points for other purchases, it was somewhat less than 25k.

I would suspect that any offer associated with the Ultimate card as part of the 20 year celebration would still include the free return flight.

Ah yes, I got that offer; the letter that led me to blasting QFF for sending me offers regardless of the points against my wishes not to be spammed. The accompanying letter was explicit that the offer was only valid for the person targetted

Hmmm, I'm a Qantas FF with a Platinum charge and credit card, but I have not received this offer from Qantas. I am feeling very left out! :o

Can someone please post the special promo code or even better scan the offer and post it, i just want to know all the details about it so i can call AMEX and try and get this deal for myself.

ill really appreciate it....

Perhaps your already having AMEX cards may have exempted you from the spam; then again , it may turn up in your mailbox soon

There's a whole bunch of numbers in a box at the top. Which one is the promo code?

No that is incorrect. I hold an Amex card and was sent the offer.

Are you a Qantas Platinum member? If so, you may well receive it soon

nah im not a platinum member, i dont think one will be coming my way

In which case you are ineligable for the offer anyway; the application sent out is to Platinum QFF members who have been targetted and the form clearly states that it is only for the member specified and, iirc, has to be done on that form provided

Dave

I received the offer after QF dropped me from Platinum to Gold FF status, but its possible I was on the QF/Amex target market list before being relegated. I have an Amex CC, but not a QF-branded one. I binned the offer as I am not interested in a QF-branded card with automagic transfer of rewards points to QF FF. I prefer to keep my Amex points in the Membership Rewards program so I can be in control as to how they are used, not to have them tied to an ineffective FF program.

My Amex card is purely for personal spend, not for any business-related expenses, so I am not ploughing the volumes of spending through my account that some people are able to achieve through business expenses. Even so, I earn more Amex points that I earn from my Corporate Diners Club card.

Sorry Dave, wrong again (twice in one thread!) I'm a QF Gold and received the offer, as have a couple of colleauges.

.

I agree with your strategy, BUT since its free I'm grabbing the free points and then making like a tree back to my other cards which stay in their respective programs :p

Well I'm a WP and I still haven't received the offer. I used to be an AMEX card holder but cancelled it about 6 months ago, worth if that is why I missed out.

As for who is getting the offer, I noted SGs and WPs on this forum reported getting this offer, I know of a NB who got a different AMEX offer for 15 points for QANTAS AMEX Premium (I believe), this 2 months after they shut their AMEX account. Seemed to be targeted from QANTAS database not so much AMEX database (ie. not using their old AMEX details).

However I haven't got either free points offers :( Since they closed 31 December I might still be on the list as a pending mailout :)

The letter does state that it was sent from Qantas, and no details were passed to American Express.

This "free" offer is not worth the entry in my credit history file for me. I place a higher value on my credit history than 30K QF FF points.
