Really, you sure you put the code in as you join Krisflyer? It's not for velocity.

If SQ closed the promotion, I wouldn't be surprised. It's too generous. Their original intention is to encourage people to use Krisflyer, and since you are not allowed to combine miles between KF accounts, they probably think that most people who joined would wanna make use of this 5000 miles by crediting more miles into it, thus improving their business. They completely overlooked the loop hole of ability to transfer to VA and the ability of family transfers with VA. So all these miles have gone to VA and KF is hemorrhaging money.

Just went to sign up Mrs Aus ATC and it looks like this particular party is over.....:(

Should have jumped in earlier..

I enrolled four of five family members successfully, paused for dinner, and returned to finish. Got the invalid partner promotion message on the last one. Talk about scraping in (with the first four!) although I'll be nervously waiting to see if the points come through.

Yep, 100% sure I was doing the right thing. Seems there's now confirmation from others that I wasn't just screwing up the process. Too generous indeed.

Signed up a few days ago, and TBH forgot to check until tonight that they had arrived. And they have.

What's worse is KF has now blocked all transferring of KF miles to VA. You can't link the accounts anymore (at least for those just opened and received the 5000 miles).

Still got 2x5000 miles stuck in 2 accounts that I didn't transfer because I didn't have their velocity number at the time.

And you can't do anything with those miles now unless you start crediting KF miles into those accounts.

I hope the other way is not affected, ie. We can still transfer VA to KF.

Hopefully it is a temporary block due to the sudden activity.

Hopefully. But I'm sure they can't block it permanently because what happens to the genuine members who want to transfer KF to VA? I suspect they can simply raise the minimum miles needed to 10000 or something like that, so unless you start earning points on the KF account, you can't make use of the 5000 points.

After all, the intention of the 5000 bonus is for you to start earning KF points, not to transfer it to VA.

They are probably panicking. First response, stop everything, then as they work the problem out work out how best to address and reopen transfers (but possibly with restrictions, e.g. Make the signup bonus not transferable).

They are probably panicking. .

Wearing a SQ hat, I would call it being prudent.

Bonus was clearly not being used for what they intended, and so they have acted.

I am trying to enrol my son. He is 16 and lives at the same address as me, and I want to use my own email address (to ensure I keep an eye on things; you know how teenagers are).

I keep getting "The partner promotion code is invalid" when I submit the form on singaporeair.com. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Re: 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,703 Velocity Frequent Flyer Poi

Transfer from KF to VA still working from my account.

Re: 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,703 Velocity Frequent Flyer Poi

They have probably blocked the transfer on new account until they fix the problem....

For those of you that managed to get the free miles transferred I doubt they can claw them back as it wasn't against the terms and conditions of the sign-up bonus!!

It will take sometime for SQ to check those doggy points. what happen if the point has been transfer, transfer and transfer to different account ? these will make it harder to claw back

I would like to thank Singapore Airlines for running such an excellent promotion. After all the various 'simpler and fairer' changes that we have had to accept in recent times, it was very nice to have a program that donated you 5000 points simply for signing up. My VA account is now 3704 points richer. I doubt I will ever credit any flights to my new SQ membership but thanks again Singapore Airlines for giving me the chance.
