5 status credits short for platinum renewal... any chance of Qantas 'gifting' those?

Given that I suspect that any "Tier Generosity Program" might be a once off, I'd be willing to do a flight if I was only 5-10 SC, lest you need it the following year.

Err... that would be zero. CR without PC is a one-sided transaction.
PC would, of course net 14 for a return trip, being the least you can earn from any of the published earning tables (that I've seen).

Exactly, 0 SC from the CR, plus 10SC from the other direction, gives a 10SC round trip.
