What are in transit guests?

Mykonos - are the white building brilliant white?. I wonder if they paint them regularly to maintain the white.

Albania - what flavour is the country?. Is it culturally Greek?

Mykonos it is whitewash and regularly redone. Albania has a small Greek presence and has a distinct culture of it's own. It was part
It was ruled by the Ottomans until 1912 and on and off again until the end of WW1. From 1944 until 1991 it was a Communist republic. This ended with a civilian uprising. So Greece really hasn't been prominent in it's history.

The worst part is their driving. Park anywhere and often in the middle of the road blocking traffic. The bus had a hard time getiing out of and back into Sarande.

Wednesday and we are in Bari. from our balcony we can see the unloading of a grain ship.

And I am off to Polignano and Mr Volare's white cliff. Mrsdrron didn't feel like going and it turned out a right decision. Weather was fine as we left on the bus.

The skies then opened. Now large busses are not allowed into Polignano so there is a bus parking area where yo transfer to a shuttle bus. Even though there was a shuttle bus there from the company Silversea uses there was no driver and we had to wait at least 5 minutes for the shuttle that met the first bus to return. And it was heavy rain with no shelter. Now there were 22 on this tour. The shuttle bus sans driver was a 24 seater but the returning shuttle was only a 19 seater.

Dropped off also in an area with no shelter so a bit of a walk to some shelter.






So we began our walk.

We soon came to the first balcony.




The Red Bull high diving competition takes place from the roof of the last house in the last picture.

The weather now was terrible. Heavy rain, cold and a strong wind.

Our guide suggested we go back to the main square and those that wanted to stayed in a cafe and she would lead the others on a walk. The going was so slow I decided to go on my own. I did miss Mr. Volare's statue but saw a lot more of the old city.







I went into the church.

So back on the shuttle and then the bus back to Bari. Naturally the rain now stopped.
