I returned from holiday this afternoon to find 2 boxes of pommery at the door - hooray!
I immediately unloaded them into my wine rack, 30 mins later a fast way delivery driver appeared saying he should only have delivered one box, and said he wanted the delivery labels, he was directed to the recycling bin and he headed off with 2 empty cartons with delivery labels. 1hour later he was at the door again saying he needed to retrieve one box, I told him I'd paid for 2 and was keeping it but if a 3rd turned up he could have that...... What a shambles.....

Makes me wonder why they went to so much effort to recall when they don't seem to have recovered much stock
Agreed. I also wonder how much actual loss they made on this. The person inputting the price must have got $22..50 from somewhere. Was that the cost price to Qantas? If so they haven't made a loss just not made profit.

Apparently $22.50 was the price of the small bottles

You’ve all heard of and seen the ‘Great Wall of China’ right? Well here is the ‘Great Wall of Pommery’!

Buying it was certainly the easy part - getting it delivered was a tad more difficult.

That’s all I will be posting here - full story to anybody who would like to listen at the next MEL nosh up.
Quit rubbing our noses in it, would you!

I was reliably informed that the recent Dan’s clearance prices were set at cost plus 78 cents, which would make the cost price of the Pommery about $48 per bottle.

Qantas would have lost $150 to $200 per case, depending on whether a voucher was used. At 200 cases delivered they would have lost at least $30,000.

Edit: Not as costly as a crack in a 737.

Qantas Wine have informed me by both email and a voice mail message that my orders would be honoured and delivered.
Despite this, today the Fastaway courier tracking service states that both my orders have arrived in Perth but are being returned to sender as requested.
To say that I am livid would be the understatement of the century.

Also, I can't call to discuss this as they have not extended their call centre hours to address daylight saving.
So they now close at 16:00 Perth time.

On hold to them now.
When I called they went through the whole explanation about the error again as if it was my first call.
They even lied to me and told me that all orders were being recalled.
I read their email aloud to them and now they have put me on hold while they go away and check.

Again, they have said my orrders will be honoured. They will send another two boxes to replace the ones which were returned to sender.
Now on hold waiting to see if I can speak to someone other than the poor call centre staff member who has borne the brunt of my frustration.

Gave my feedback.
Received an email with a new order number for the two boxes.
Fingers crossed they will arrive this time!

I for one hope Qantas do not refund my money. It would feel like theft. I know others will disagree but there is a difference in my mind between getting something for a deeply discounted price and paying nothing for it at all.

The good news is, you get to make your own choice how to respond if they do... the bad news is, they’ll probably stuff that up too.

I for one look forward to Qantas probably charging my card triple the price tomorrow. Or maybe they’ll send me a wall of pommery!

Who knows when this roulette wheel of incompetence will stop spinning...

What's that saying - roughly - if there's a choice between a conspiracy and a stuff up, back the stuff up every time!

Just out of interest does anyone know where the Qantas Wine call centre is based?
Indonesia? The Phillipines? Thailand?
