I saw this deal early on before it became hot. I didn't buy because I was in no position to deal with the fallout if delivery turned into a knotty problem or indeed a Gordian knot. And I really had no doubt it could turn out poorly. So, I was a bit shy and looked a gift horse in the mouth.

But, it seems I underestimated the power of a rabid mob demanding their pound of flesh.

From a retailer's point of view I'm sure it makes good commercial sense to pay a bit of money to make a baying mob go away. What are their alternatives?

This is the second "deal" I've let slip because I underestimated how persuasive a mob can be.

So I'll no longer underestimate the power of the AFF and OZ Rewards communities and I'll take advantage of as many morally dubious deals as I can - because sure as sh** the faceless corporations deserve a bit of payback - or something - as long as I get mine, right?

I don't see anything morally dubious about ordering a product at the advertised price.

No idea how to run a business lately. Something must have changed.

Agree. The company has the option to cancel.

Where it can get tricky - and who knows what the answer to this is - is where people can take mean advantage of the price. The Cathay deals ex Vietnam - IIRC someone bought 10 of them. If you're an airline debating whether to honour them or not, someone holding 10 might be a reason to cancel. Then everyone loses out.

But as i said, I don't know what the answer to that is.

Sorry I dont understand this post, what was the power of rabid mob? This company were too slow to act and delivered before the goods could be recalled to the majority of people. Some like myself ordered a case unsure if the pricing was correct and did not get the delivery, so where is my power?
Can you ever be sure the price you are being offered is a sale price or a mistake, and should you have to pay and wait over a week while the goods are in transit and returned back to the supplier to get a refund with nothing more than a sorry we made a mistake. I for one would not order from Q wines for the simple reason that this could happen at any time.

Have just this thread end to end in one hit. Hard to think of a greater example of sheer incompetence on multiple levels, over the course of a week or more, in any commercial sphere.

Well done to those who persevered.

Did anyone, who spoke to a manager-type, direct them to look at this thread as examples of the inconsistency in who got the plonk, etc?

make a baying mob go away

'baying mob' ... otherwise known as 'the customers' ;)

I am pleased to announce - in real time - that the MEL QF F Lounge did not have its delivery turned back and have the staff join the baying mob demanding their entitlements...

Ah. So that’s what they’ve done with the returned stock that’s been on the road in +30 deg heat for the past week or so. 🙄

To add to the tally of incompetence, they didn't even manage to reship my order on Friday.
Even though I rang early in the morning and obviously there were no payment processing issues or delays.
It still shows as "processing".

Although I’ve had my order delivered (after recalling the wrong order) they have now reversed the points! Mind you it was only 170! But still..

When I phone no managers are available and request to call back are not followed up, emails are not answered. I would have thought Q wines would already be aware of this thread.

Yes, a very ordinary operation.

I spoke to a team leader or supervisor. Of course they are not actually in management. They are probably not even a QF employee.
But they are all you get to speak to these days.
I said that their customers talked to each other and that we had discussed this issue.
I said I was aware that some orders had been honoured while others had not.
I was hesitant to mention this forum specifically as I thought if they were aware of the level of information exchanged they might have decided to adopt a more consistent approach in future. That is to cancel every order! Not the outcome we would want!

One interesting note. The supervisor repeatedly referred to my status as a platium member and wanted to assure me that they wanted to look after me as a platinum member. That surprised me.

I sent an email to Lisa Hudson (head of QF Wine) 10 days ago, setting out the comedy of errors, and expressing disappointment about the way everything was handled (that was before I became aware of this thread). Never got acknowledgment or a response.

Shhh don't let the ringmaster know how incompetent her circus is, I'm looking forward to more comical pricing errors in the future.

Although I wasn't in on the Pommery frenzy, I had bought some other wine about the time it was happening.

I hope that everybody here that ordered/lost/regained/was refunded/was not refunded etc. received the Q Wine feedback survey that hit my inbox a few minutes ago ;):p.

Nothing as yet.
