A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

From my experience Africa to AU is bookable through DOH at 50k miles per person in J. I've booked it twice and so has a mate.

But who knows maybe we got lucky with the agent ?

I thought with AA, the pricing is done automatically by the computer system, rather than by agent lottery?

Mine converted to AUD at a rate slightly better than the xe.com rate so I was happy with that ... paying AUD at the same number would've been nice!

I thought exchange rates were set once a week or something in airline systems? So it's possible you could still be getting the advantage of when the AUD was slightly higher. It used to be that way, at least in some systems, many years ago. Not sure if it's still the same.

Oh happy day !!!
Lovin' the FOREX rates at AA
I posted earlier this week about the F redemption I booked from LHR-SYD.
No joy with the ticketing more than 24 hours after putting in my CC details.
Called the AA Australian number to enquire and apparently AA.com can't process $US to a foreign CC ??
Anyway the agent advises me that instead of paying $xx_ US I will need to pay $xx_ Australian. Exactly the same amount in AUD
I nearly fell off my chair :mrgreen:
The icing on the cake was me having added a cheeky little BA connector CDG-LHR before QF10 reducing the APD !!
I love American !!

I've had similar happen. CHFxx_ were charged as the same xx_AUD.

Just went into QF MMB to try to change my AA FF# to my QFFF #. Couldn't do that. Can I do this online for my QF and CX flights, as I'd rather have my OWS show up on BP other than AA NB.

There are a couple of website options to do this RJ and AY but I've never been able to get them to work for me.
Easiest way to do it is over the phone with AA

Thats strange, what airline is it that your flying? Punch your PNR in CheckMyTrip to see the operating airline PNR and try this one

Not working with the ANA PNR, which is now the same as the LifeMiles PNR.

And not working with SQ.

It will work if it's an Amadeus PNR. Is your operating airline ANA? ANA switched to Amadeus last April, it should work on EgyptAir - you should be able to bring it up, change your FF number, select seats, change your account details etc. I think Lufthansa gives you the same functionality- try there. If both fail - not sure what to do, give it a few days.

Both the SQ and NH PNRs are Amadeus ones.

just put 2x J on hold for PER-HKG-BKK-HAN CX CX QR

they tried to say the BKK-HAN leg would have to be a seperate award but then spoke with the pricing desk and fixed it to 35k pp

a bit of back tracking but it went thru

QATAR worked for all 3 trips.
