A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

SYD-NRT seems to be available now, but nothing on NRT-LHR. I don't believe AA allow AU-UK on the 80k award for any other route than AU-DXB-LHR on QF though (They definitely don't for QR, but JL being oneworld perhaps)?

QR is allowed under the Doha exception - but they don't offer F all the way.

Hey Guys,

What's the typical wait time for the tickets to be put through the queue.

Booked yesterday morning, no email confirmation as of yet?

That's normal. Ticketing time can vary - EY tickets this week took three days, CX tickets were issued within a couple of hours.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Ticketing times vary depending on your departure date, they sit in a ticketing queue and if your departure is quite a few months away it may take days. My Qatar tickets last week took 3 days

OZ-Asia1/2-LON is an unofficial/HUACA type thing right?
It's unofficial in that it isn't published anywhere on the AA site but OZ to Europe via Asia1/2 and Doha (on Qatar only) is allowed where there's a change in the flight number in the transit point

however, all AA agents know that. Former USAirways agents might not because they know nothing - if that's the case (and you normally know that straight away as they are quite obviously incompetent) HUACA

I would call the Australian number, the Fiji call centre people know the rules

So after spending the better part of several days searching (and trying to do QF ex AU and EY ex Europe), I decided to switch. EY availability ex MEL on the A380 to LHR is plentiful, so am now going MEL-AUH-LHR in EY F A380, and then ex Europe back to MEL on BA and QF (avoid the dreaded APD with a quick intra-Europe tack-on).

Total spent in cash $303 in fees and taxes for both, total. Burned all but a few dozen VA miles and all but 54 AA miles.

Now, to plan my QF burning (many points there to plan a few RTW's in J, but that's for 2017 and beyond unless they suddenly enhance it, again).

I never thought I'd see the day.

Qantas is offering award seats on partner airlines (AB and CX) that aren't bookable with AA. Astounding.
