A little bit of moderation in Dubai.

Accommodation is the JW Marriott. Not that we get (or expect) much sleep on any night

I am looking forward to the accommodation:

Marriott Marquis - Elevated above Dubai's business district, on Sheikh Zayed Road, the recently opened JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the world’s tallest hotel. Spread across two iconic towers, the luxury hotel features 14 diverse dining options, SARAY Spa and Health Club, and boasts impressive views across the city.

We also will be visiting Al Maha for dinner (hoping to checkout a room):

Al Maha, A Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, is nestled in a verdant palm oasis, deep within Dubai’s magical dune and desert landscape. Al Maha showcases the heritage and architecture of the Bedouins. This internationally-awarded hideaway also offers a sense of desert adventure with five star hospitality.

While a lunch will be served at the viewing Deck at The Palace Downtown Dubai Hotel overlooking The Dubai Fountain Show.

If you can get away from the minders.. take a ride to the end of the monorail line and come back.
The high rise apartments seem to go on forever, and I was left wondering what they all do... adds a touch of perspective... :-)

fwiw .. I just love Dubai...makes vegas look like sideshow alley at the Ekka...

Nice one guys, Chocks away, tally ho!

Look forward to the reviews, although if one of you could please review the trip acting like a narrow minded dimwit for the purposes if those who are that way inclined that would be great!

Well done markis10 and LW - very well deserved. Looking forward to travelling with you. :)
I found Dubai to be a fascinating place, and have always intended to return which I'm sure will happen sooner now with the QF/EK tie up.
Take plenty of $$$ with you for the gold souk.

Are we packed yet? :)

Just over 24 hours to go and the answer is no, but the Digital SLR is fully charged, as are the headphone batteries, so we are getting close.

From what I can gather there are around 80 invited guests including politicians and "celebrities" coming along, so we are a tad top heavy:

Fare Classes: F/0 A/0 P/0 J/0 C/0 D/0 I/0 W/0 R/0 T/0 Y/4 B/3 H/3 K/3 M/2 L/0 S/2 Q/2 G/0 E/0

I am looking forward to the food on the trip, given its all Halal on the flights, it will be a new experience, off to have bacon and eggs for breakfast today, no turkey or beef bacon for me!

I will see you both in the F Lounge tomorrow. I flew from London yesterday and am now in Auckland. Have to go to Euro for dinner tonight. :)

I am taking a later flight into SYD tomorrow, so I'm not going to the press conference in Sydney, but just transit.

Also on return flight am heading back to AKL so will again just transit in SYD.

Will be nice to meet Markis10 and to catch up with LW again.

QF2 arriving Thurs is an old config, which means you have a one in three chance of getting.....

Fantastic news guys - I'll look forward to reading all about the trip!

No, that's tonights job. Looking after the kids today (Saturday is Daddy Day, so was yesterday). After all, I need to get a brownie point or two before I go ;)

After an unexpected phone call last night, for a second or two I thought my trip was off. Long story and not one shared here, but it involved a hospital (not me thankfully).

I think you'll be getting the brownie points if you make excellent purchases while you are away. :).

Ah, that answers one of my questions in the PM I sent you. Great, tons of time to catch up. Now if you'll sit near us, we might get really good CSM service ;)

No, I'll merely be offsetting the loss of brownie points by leaving my wife with 2 kids by herself over Easter holidays :o. Tiffany & Co selection already made. Know the BNE shop price, now to check out the store in the Dubai Mall (one of our tours).

I PM'd you. I have asked to sit near you and Markis10. I'd have more fun than sitting by myself. Also give you and I a chance to chat about your PM. :)

You can show them where to find those power points ;)

I have never flown in PE. But between the 3 of us we will work it out. :)

I flew Y LHR-SIN-MEL. Was a pain as QF10 went tech twice so we were 2&1/2 hours late so I missed my connection in SIN. Had a Y ticket to AKL but the CSM recognised me when I was boarding and sat me in J.

Congratulations guys,
Lindsay & markis10 wish you both a great trip & look forward to all the reviews in your programme.
