A Magic Carpet, er Ship ride to Arabia.

Ok, just catching up, the blue and white patterned bag on the plane - is that the amenties kit -if so NOICE !!
And those cherry blossom patterned bowls and spoons - at the buffet - I would have souvenired a few of those too !! :D :D

Internet crazy excellent on the hop on hop off bus. The trip is a tad tedious. Not given a map. Commentary limited to stop number in Malay. 🤷‍♀️.

yes the amenity kits. Yes the cutlery is gorgeous. Loved the swizzle stirrer sticks but sadly not souvenired. We did pinch the clog salt and pepper shakers *4. The cherry blossom bowls are at the Sama Sama hotel. Maybe tomorrow?😉. KLM are all delft.

So the HO HO took four hours. Advertised as entrancing but MrP described it as entrapment. 😂. We didn’t get off. Think we are jaded after four touristing weeks. And we’ve both been to KL before. Still tummy stuff so no sampling of food halls but am hanging out for a curry at home on Sat night.

Todays sights.

First the high speed train to KL. Takes around 30 minutes and cost 100 ringgit round trip pp. So $33 each.

While waiting for HoHo. Not only straddling two parks but half way across the road.

First the Palace.

Views from the bus. No commentary so 🤷‍♀️.

We had a late night, 10.20pm flight to Adelaide on MAS. Around a 7 hour trip. We left the hotel around 7 and into KLIA where we dropped off luggage then on the bus to get to the satellite terminal. We find the lounge impossible to find but we eventually got there. I decided to have a sit down meal, so I could get to sleep asap while MrP thought he'd have his meal on the plane. We arrived into the gate lounge then heard the most indecipherable message which someone else enquired about and it was a 30 minute delay. We all knew there was a delay in the message but it was so poorly stated that we all started laughing.

We then boarded in a rush and the cabin crew clearly not prepared. All over the place. They handed out the menu - WHAT? No meal other than breakfast in 6 hours time? No dinner? WT? MrP rueing he didn't eat in the lounge. Anyways they handed out juice and warm champagne 🤦‍♀️ and then left around 40 minutes late. As soon as I could I hunkered down for some sleep. And then 10 minutes later was woken by the crew asking what I wanted for breakfast. She actually shook me to wake me up! I said I didn't want anything other than youghurt and coffee. Then went back to sleep. I could hear others querying why there was no dinner available.

Went to sleep and around 3 hours later was shaken awake again. Two hours 30 minutes until we landed. Oh c'mon. Woke to bright light shining in my face. And she handed out a tray of yoghurt. Breakfast. Breakfast service for all took maybe 30 minutes, still 2 hours to landing. Then they turned off the cabin lights again! People were seething. They wouldn't give anyone a hot drink because the seat belt light was on. I asked why it was on. She said due to weather. I asked, which weather as it was perfectly calm. The seat belt light went out a minute later, it had been on most of the flight someone told me. This happened on the flight over as well, when there was no turbulence at all. Convenience.

Three internationals lined up at Adelaide Airport so jammed but customs seemed to move them on quickly. Nothing to declare so out quickly.

I'll do a summary of the trip later, but jury is certainly out for MAS now. The passengers in business were not happy campers. Glad I didn't pay cash for it.

Is it ok for crew to wake passengers by shaking them, for non essential purposes?

In that situation, I would’ve been grumpy and would have sought out the CSM and complained in no uncertain terms. Possibly, in your situation, with MrP.
I was clearly grumpy with them. When I asked about the coffee she pointed to the seat belt sign. I asked why was it on. She said, the weather. I said, What weather? It was calm and had been for ages and there were no announcements of future concerns. I think MAS use it as an excuse to not serve hot drinks. KLM battled on relentlessly during a rather rocky flight a few days earlier. I think the CSM was the problem.

This happened to me on a MAS flight. The light conveniently came on just after the lunch service and remained on for no obvious reason. The crew refused to serve me a cup of tea. After 4 hours I had to go to the ladies so got up despite the seatbelt light and went through the galley only to see the crew all enjoying a chat and hot drinks. At least they looked a bit sheepish. But the seatbelt light was clearly on for crew convenience not for safety.

Thanks Anna. This confirms my suspicions.

@Pushka thank you so much for this wonderful informative trip report with brilliant photos. Really inspiring. I came to it late…

Have been to Israel but Jordan/Egypt remain on the bucket list. The heat and security sounds a little ‘challenging’ but in the end you proved the ‘juice was definitely worth the squeeze’

You took a photo of the menora shop in Jerusalem where I bought one !

…..we were also at Chelsea Flower show on the Tuesday. Having been before it was absolutely an early start for us too. Fully agree re crowds and those crowds full of Nartarshas and Jocastas in floooooral dresses and fake tans. I actually prefer the pavilion with the incredible flower displays. Some of the winning show gardens that looked like piles of rubbish and weeds left me cold. The term ‘rewilding’ is big in the UK and ‘no mow May’🤷‍♀️

It's so weird to randomly take a photo of an obscure place where someone else has been. Upthread I randomly took a photo of the area where Drron was staying that week.

UK has No Mow May. We couldn't believe the mess that Hyde Park was in. We just wanted to run the lawnmower over it. But that's how it's liked? I think our Brit DIL was shocked at our reaction. Of course we can't do this in Australia because of the bushfire risk. But it also makes the roadside look much neater and cared for.

You were there same time as us so no doubt heard all this

No I hadn't, but It's fascinating. I love the country style gardens but to think they haven't been meticulously planned and planted is nonsense. But the Way of things is to take it a step too far and abandon planning and go straight to nature. And we all know that WEEDS will take over.
