I sometimes park at one of the fast food restaurants in Mickleham Road (usually the Mc Donald's near the Tullamarine Freeway) and get the 901 bus from there to the airport. Of course this is not good if you don't have the time to muck around, but for a cheap day trip on Jetstar this seems perfect.

The local buses certainly save on the $29 for the long term car park for the day, which can make a cheap day trip not so attractive.

I am fortunate to live on a bus route which is usually convenient for travel unless there is an early start or late finish. Timing a flight around a bus timetable just adds to the fun!
