A seven-hour scenic flight around Australia ?

Nice pickup. Still available for sale when I had a look a moment ago, not that I'll be booking. But good luck to those who can take advantage of it. (Says no SCs - because net distance of zero?)

Make all the jokes you like about MEL but whenever we are considered less leper like and can leave and all that the pent up demand to go freakin ANYWHERE should be taken advantage of IMO.

We've had more or less zero ability to even go intra state for months now. Flights like this would be pretty popular I reckon (let alone a real flight to I don't know.. QLD or SYD or yes even ADL) if anyone will allow us in for fear of the plague

Waddya mean even ADL- attitudes like that may make you unwelcome here :p ;)

A lot of people in MEL are going to have cash, leave and travel credits to burn, and long memories about some of the rhetoric during this period of time. I'd sooner take a flight to/from MEL than to certain states at the moment, but we'll see long term whether anything changes in those states that might go on to change my mind.

I wonder when it comes to the time, whether people will say I am angry with government for keeping their borders shut, but I am not going to punish myself my boycotting a place I want to visit. There will be some that will also want to actively support the tourism industry as we saw with the bushfires.

I kid because I love. I threw in ADL for the Pooch :) but I have friends I definitely would love to get over and see in the city of Churches :)

I'm not angry at governments for keeping their borders shut. I am angry at divisive and exploitative hijacking of a situation like this. I am going to leave it at that as I'm fast approaching a topic that I know is not allowed on here anymore, but it does relate to travel and to the pent up demand of Victorians for travel, and I am certain it will be evident going forward, because generally nobody has reason to feel this way about another state, as normally we're not exposed to their state governments at any level. However this is different, we've become acutely aware of the maneuvering and the attitudes, and you now have a situation where people will vote with their wallets as they feel personally affected by things that have been said and done.

In terms of "holding yourself back from places you want to go", I don't see it that way. Consider it re-ordering priorities to send a message.

I agree, there are other ways you can make your voice heard to the people responsible for the depressing rhetoric.

I think its pretty sledgehammer to boycott an entire state like QLD for example just because of what a few people have been saying, it punishes a lot of innocent people in the process! I don't blame NSW and VIC residents for thinking like this at all but hopefully they all have short memories and are smart enough to know its not representative of us all :)

I will be on the first plane out to VIC once restrictions are lifted, though I think NSW will be resolved shortly with the pressure mounting on QLD.

I love ADL as well :) Lived there for a few years, unfortunately like most left for career progression and jobs in VIC and NSW, now QLD!

It seems that SA is currently a Police State and not run by the Government so I can comment without becoming a problem😂. What we see coming out of politicians mouths currently doesn't convert to reality. Well, more so than usual.

Looking at the seat map on EF, looks like the window seats in row 57 is occupied rather than blocked. If so, a couple of punters in for a nasty surprise when they board. 😬

No SCs is a deal breaker for an airfare that expensive

Heh, wink wink, indeed.
That is the "sans" window isn't it?
On QF's version of the 787 anyway.
Edit: just checked on Seatguru, yep, as is row 44, also no window.
Double edit:
Why Qantas would remove this is beyond me.
Money earning, of course, for those in the know, SC earn would be very important, but for most people, its just to get onto a plane.
If someone had booked in good faith, of SC earn, and then it was zero, that person would be hard done by, as they relied on something to buy, that person "might" have a ground to lodge something with the agency that deals with consumers, in relation to airlines, eh?
