Interesting flight, witnessed a DYKWIA moment from a gentleman sitting behind me. Crew was handing out water bottles.....he asked for two....crew advised they would be happy to come back with any spares once they ensure everyone on board receives one. Not good enough for this tosser & he starts complaining about lack of service....FA explains very politely, again......bloke now wants a glass of water....FA replies yes, but after we finish the water run....tosser then goes off! Senior FA comes down & takes over. During the flight the CSM approaches the man, apologises for the crew behaviour & then gifts him two items from the duty free catalogue :confused:

Why is it that the "squeaking wheel gets the oil"? He was rude and obnoxious, then gets rewarded for his behaviour but otoh the FA's handled it very well.

Incredible thanks for the foodgasm. I have never seen bamboo clams before. I'm happy you're instilling into your kids the appreciation in eating a great diversity of food and to at least try things once. Hopefully in the future I can do the same with my young son.

Thanks Inver for your lovely comments!

Bamboo clams are fantastic.....particularly when served with a garlic sauce.

I'm sure your son is in good hands.......be kind, but a little tough & ensure he knows food is a gift....not a right. Always remember - a little bribing goes a long way;)

Stop this immediately. I'm salivating just at the presentation. LOL

ROFL....the eating part was even better;)

Great trip report, good to see what I may have missed as I was planning to be in Singapore over Easter before last minute changes, still Plent of the year left and I do have a conference in June to explore.

Thank you. Reading your TR.....you didn't miss too much;)

Thanks for the trip report. Very inspiring, and certainly some great helps and suggestions if I ever get to plan a trip over to Singapore.

Great trip report! Having lived in Singapore for a bit it makes me want to go back!

Thanks again :-)

I heard the whole exchange (he was loud) and he was way out of order. IMHO showering him with gifts is just sending the wrong message........he walked off that flight & no doubt will step on the next one with an even worst attitude towards cabin crew.

I feel bad for the FA that had to endure this rude person.....only to have his boss shower the ignoramus with gifts!

Great trip report. I guess I am off to the Gardens by the Bay next time I am in SIN.

Thanks - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

How long did you spend in the gardens? The SIN lounge [-]crawl[/-] inspection is next weekend and I will have about 3-4 hours.

That's more than enough...it's too bloody hot to stay longer

Amaroo, how much was the brunch pp at the FS? Taking up some ideas for our trip next month!

Agree - 2 hours will well & truly see you through it all. Make sure you do the Cloud Forest dome last - very refreshing. The tree top walk is ok but if pushed for time - I'd rather walk into the MBS and grab a table at Din Tai Fung:D

Cool, thanks for the advice amaroo, and others. Now I can have a sleep in and a leisurely breakfast before visiting the gardens. :)

Food only S$68++

IIRC with free flow bubbles S$160++

Enjoy.

I love my Veuve - but I'd really struggle to drink S$92 worth in 2hrs :shock:

BTW - I hope the touring party has a whale of a time....looking forward to the photos.

Have a fantastic time:cool::mrgreen:

It's possible they should have known who he was.

Or at some point prior to boarding, he had told Qantas of his need for a certain quantity of water (perhaps because of a medical condition), and was told he couldn't carry that much water on board, but was assured that he would be provided with water, immediately upon boarding the flight (can you even carry large quantity's of water onto international flights these days?). That request obviously didn't make it to the cabin crew, who treated him the same as everyone else, when he had been told he would be treated differently.

I'd be pretty pissed if that happened to me (that is, told one thing by Qantas and something different happens). That may explain why he received an apology form the CSM and the gifts.

If neither of the above is true, then yes, it sends the wrong message and worse encourages others to do the same.

Hey Amaroo, a quick question? I am interested in your thoughts on why Fullerton Bay is better than FS. I am an FS fan but haven't stayed at FS Singapore. FS Singapore sends like it would cater better for a toddler (amenities, pool) but the location of Fullerton Bay seems a lot better. What made you decide Fullerton Bay was the better of the two?
