A380 first class Dining

The 'Tasting Menu' and 'Dinner Menu' were exactly the same on QF29 SYD-HKG (although it was a lunch menu then). The Blue Eye was dissappointing (bland, a bit dry), but the Chicken & Rosemary pie was amazing!

Due to popular demand, here also the cover of the First menus. I must say- rather boring as it's a picture of a red lettuce leaf

Wine list please?

I only have one as on the flight back they had "forgotten to load it". Will post tonight when I'm back home- just note that even the one list I have, was not entirely correct as not all the wines actually were on board

And here's the wine list for the outbound, they had "forgotten to load one" on the way back. Also, the Pol Roger was in fact not available on either F flight and one of the crew told me that "apparently, there is a rumour that on one single flight out of DXB they really had it stocked but ran out after two bottles" From memory, there were also one or two wine choices not actually on board.

Thanks for that.

Looking forward to the champagnes!! The wine list looks okay... how come they dont have bin 707 or rwt?

Not wishing to nay-say the QF F experience (love it when I can get it), but that sounds a bit slap-dash and crummy.

Half the Champagne selections not there and 2 out of the 7 wines?

Yep- I'd agree. Though the crew did bend over backwards to apologise and even seemed a bit embarrassed themselves. To be honest- all in all, the drink selection was better on EK J than on QF F in my eyes. It was exactly the opposite when it came to professionalism and consistency of the crew as well as the food- I'd definitely prefer QF.

Currently in the process of finding a QF F going to DXB and EK F on the way back ... noting your trip report and other observations and will compare and contrast! :)

Someone mentioned that the tasting menu in F begins around 1hr after departure. Is this the same on the MEL-LAX route? It leaves just after 9am in winter so would they really begin an 8 course tasting at what is essentially just after 10am Melb time?

<Bump>

Any idea on what the menu is for QF10 (both legs) at the moment? Got my first F flights in ~2 weeks and trying to work out a strategy for sleeping and eating as I'm heading all the way through to MEL. I'm hoping that the LHR-DXB leg has decent dinner service as I plan on being awake before getting some sleep for most of DXB-MEL, but I wont go the full hog if the DXB FLounge/FTerminal has decent food and/or the catering on the DXB-MEL leg is better. I simply can't eat so much that often so want to be hungry when the catering is best.

Any tips/info would be appreciated. (I take it there is still no degustation out of LHR or DXB as they aren't outbound flights from Oz?)

Got 2A and 3A sorted for SWMBO too. Just absolutely cannot wait.

There is a tasting menu DXB-MEL. I'll try to find my info and post later.

Breakfast before landing in MEL
ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1385527823.360970.jpg

The tasting menu was actually pretty nice (not as good as some I have had ex-SYD).
The breakfast sausages were awful (think they were some type of Pork substitute) bright pink and looked raw. They were cooked properly but the texture and taste made them inedible.

There is hardly any Arab influence in that menu at all, other than the Kanafa :s
