I can't recall ever on a non A380. Are you certain?

Well you made me question myself ... and yes, I can't be certain. However, some quick searches revealed an article from 2009 : Qantas
Qantas have introduced an eight-course tasting menu designed by Neil Perry on their international flights and have reintroduced caviar in moves that are part of the airline’s latest international product and service upgrade.

According to Lesley Grant, Qantas Group’s General Manager for customer product and services, the new menu offered to Qantas’s First class customers consists of a menu service comparable to that of the world’s top quality restaurants. The tasting menu was initially offered on First class routes from Australia to Bangkok, Singapore and Los Angeles, but Qantas expected the menu to become a signature product for most of Qantas First class routes.

Bangkok was never an A380 destination.

Bangkok F was pulled shortly thereafter if I recall. It also used to be ex-SYD/MEL only, but that seems to be changing. Saying that, I have never seen it offered on a 747 in the past 3 years of F trips - SYD-SIN, SYD-LAX, SYD-HKG.

It was definitely available on QF1 SYD-BKK until the switch last year.

Ok, did HKG-SYD F on 744 on Monday and there was indeed a tasting menu, however as I mentioned, it's now pretty much just everything on the menu, where previously it was a specifically designed menu with dishes not available on the a la carte section. A little disappointing, but I had the steak sandwich and went straight to sleep anyway as its a short overnight flight.

On another note, gee the old 744 F feels like a massive downgrade after the 388 :(

Some of these birds (not necessarily QF ones) are getting so old UNESCO is looking at World Heritage status for them :)

I remember when the tasting menu was special, too. Shame, but for an overnight flight probably not worth the effort for QF (as many pax will just go to sleep).

I felt exactly the same way about the 744 F which I was on last month. I had a whinge to Shrek when he picked me up until he reminded me of the good old days in whY

At least you got a tasting menu! Was on a 744 F up to HKG a few weeks ago and they didn't have the tasting menu :( Between that and the scrappy looking fit out, it was definitely disappointing.

Those huge IFE screens are a real joy for the eyes;)

Especially when coupled with the flight path which looks like it has been tuned in with a pair of rabbit ear antenna from the 80s, complete with rolling white bands.

Even the FA exclaimed "I apologise Mr ComeFlyWithMe, these are not like the 380s..." ;)

Also flew SYD-HKG 744 F a couple of weeks ago - tasting menu in place was good (but as mentioned before nothing special compared to the regular offer) and the FA's were also good (apart from one who seemed a bit over friendly and 'chummy' with everyone).

But the product itself is a poor reflection on QF I feel - the difference between the 744 and the A380 offer is huge and QF should be selling the 744 F product as a J (or even a J+?) but not F....

As for the old A330's in use MEL-HKG-MEL its the same situation. A J seat on an A380 is such a better product they should have different price points..... Crazy way to run a business!

My boss is travelling on QF1/2 later in the year, what are the food options given that she is a pescetarian?

Anyone have a sample menu from QF1/2 (9/10) ?

Do we think that QF have made the right choice pulling F from most routes? It seems very odd where you can and can't access F. For example people travelling to LAX can access F but DFW can't? HK can but SIN can't? What about all those SYD/MEL - SIN passengers who used to fly F there?

I'm a lobstertarian and request as such but it doesnt work all that often..... :)

Fly CX more often :)

Last CX flight I took had caviar & Krug as appetiser, lobster as entree, venison as main. Can't remember dessert - was probably too full for it after all that.

I'm doing FASA tomorrow on 744 SYD HKG. No options for FASA on a380 so will just take the inferior product and get my double SCs

Your boss should be okay- Pescetarian is someone who only likes Fish? I'm exactly the other way round but plenty of options on the F menu. Just if you insist on pork meat, you'll be out of luck

Just the other day on QF9:
