A quick question, with the F suites on A380 and their ability to accommodate a +1, If the +1 is seated elsewhere in the plane in J, Y+ or Y. Are they able to join me for the tasting menu on the SIN flight or just the normal meal on another F flight, say HKG?

You would have to ask the inFlight Services Director (or whatever their title is) - and the answer may be different each time.

In practice I suspect that while you may be visited by them for a while and perhaps a beverage or two, this would not normally extend to Meals.

YMMV

I've been politely asked to leave the F cabin as they started serving dinner. I was up there talking to one of the executives from our company, while I was up the back...

When I was travelling to the States last year my son had one of his friends on the flight (Y+). We had seen them in the F Lounge prior to departure. On boarding I asked the CSM if we could have the boy up to have dinner with my son and they obliged happily. Later in the flight we had drinks with the parents in the F/J inflight lounge (I didn't think that it was right to bring them into F). I think each case is different :)

The First Host will call you the day before your flight and ask about Spa appointments,

Just dragging this old thread out again now that I read the above. Is this always happening, that they call you the day before? I just got my upgrade to F confirmed for this Thursday so exactly 48 hours in advance and am really really keen to get an appointment in the spa. Should I just wait and hope I'll get a call tomorrow at around T-24 or would people here recommend to rather be pro-active to call QF myself? If the latter, do I call the normal customer service number or try to get the lounge directly- does anyone now? I'm grateful for any advice/ tips. Oh- and I'm flying via Melbourne so it would be the Flounge in MEL.

I was in this situation last month. Upgraded with points, and it came through 48 hrs prior (impressed with that).

I was having some difficulty with F seat selection so I called F Host the day prior to the flight (the landline goes tothe people on the counter at the FLounge; the mobile goes to check-in).

Nice conversation; was told "we were just about to call you". Sorted me out no probs.

But I wouldn't hesitate to call them tomorrow; you may be busy when they call. I'll PM you the numbers for Melbourne.

I did receive a call the day before at exactly 24 hours before the flight!

If you don't receive a call by say 1300 I would be trying to get in contact with them.

There was/is a number listed somewhere here for the Melbourne F Lounge

I was able to easily obtain a spa appointment last month, but I was the only paid F passenger so I was the first person called for any appointments. However I was also able to obtain an apointment for my +1 who was traveling in business!

The first host called me back a few times about other matters and was an absolute delight to speak to!

It was my first time using the F check-in and the service was spot on and the welcome when we arrived at the F lounge was outstanding.

Having this service/lounge is the main reason I fly Qantas, to firstly stay Platinum and secondly to obtain enough FF points to keep flying in F

Just as an update- received a call from a very friendly Qantas staff member in Melbourne who offered me a Spa treatment and went through all the formalities regarding arrival time and checkin etc. Needless to say that I couldn't resist that generous offer of a lovely relaxing massage :D

How far into the flight do they serve the degustation on SYD/MEL-LAX?

Do they serve the degustation on the way back?
How about MEL/SYD-LHR and return?

As far as I've experienced it, only out of Australia so SYD/MEL-LHR or SYD/MEL-LAX but not on the way back. I personally find the Degustation a bit overrated anyway- it's basically half portions of selected a la carte meals. I much prefer to simply select several a la carte items and pair the wines yourself for your own personal "degustation" which also turns out to be much more food in the end :p

Also served SYD-HKG - I had it a couple of weeks back. So I guess all ex-Australia A380 flights?

As for creating your own "degustation" menu with several of the a la carte options - I'm amazed anyone can eat / drink more than what is found in the regular tasting menu!! :-)

It's also on HKG-SYD now ( modified version). Was available on my flight last week, I declined though due to the overwhelmingly greater need for zzzz's

Well I can easily- and unfortunately it shows: Every day either bootcamp in the Domain or a session with my personal trainer and I still don't get rid of my little tummy  Saying that- I also have a very valid reason for it, besides stuffing myself with delicious food, I'm allergic to seafood so chances are, several of the degustation options wouldn't work for me anyway.

Beaudy! I'm on 128 P class in January - I was wondering if I would get enough sleep - obviously not!

I wonder if that's A380 only?
It wasn't available on my 744 in Feb, even though it was on the menu.
Could've been a one-off though.
