Is it the seatmap on QF showing it's blocked, or EF? It may in fact be that it is blocked and just reflecting that on the seatmap so no one else can select it.

50B was showing as free (to me. a WP) on qantas.com for weeks. But it showed as occupied on checkmytrip seat maps. It seems to be the way I've detected the "shadow" before. But today 50B shows as occupied on qantas.com. Is it a T-80 thing? And perhaps it's stll blocked?

That's my guess. Maybe someone with EF access can check.

Not sure exactly which day you are flying out, but QF9 on Friday to SIN has 50A/B/C all occupied on EF.

That's the one! And perhaps EF shows lots of empty seats elsewhere too (as per qantas.com which shows 80 empty seats)? Bye bye shadow!

Is it possible to tell if 50A/B has booked the bassinet?

I'm afraid not. All of the normal notable good seats have been taken as well. I'm not sure what 51H/J/K are like, although they are the bulkhead seats on the other side of the plane. Don't think I've ever heard about anyone raving about these, but all 3 seats show up as blocked (rather than occupied) at the moment.

Strange that someone would select a middle seat (50B) when 50A/C has been occupied for weeks and there are lots of aisle/window and even sets of 3 and 4 still empty... I wouldn't have thought 50B is that good.

Ive selected 80a/k for my wife and I on the same pnr but neither of us have shadows. Do you know if pax on the same pnr as a WP get shadows?

Don't see shadows as much on International flights (generally occur when very lightly loaded).

Stranger things have happened... it's only showing Y7 H7, etc... so I would imagine the flight to be a little packed, which would explain why the WP shadow giving up the ghost.

Weirdly for this sector, it's showing J9 and W9. There's no award inventory, but if you have some spare ff points, the lottery might be worth a shot if you consider having someone in 50B is going to severely affect your flight experience.

I had the upgrade requested Y->J weeks ago and it still shows. But then decided to spend 120,000 points on a MEL-SIN-MEL JASA in August (with double SCs) in order to position in Yangon of all places... That left me with not even enough points for a Y->W upgrade (25,000 needed). But I should have enough for the return. Oh well, only myself to blame... :)

Can someone give me some feedback on seat 69D on the A380?

I like to have my bag close to me on a flight so am quite happy to have a seat in front that I can put it under.
What really annoys me though is having people tugging or leaning on the back of my seat as I finally doze off. I was hoping that with no 70D the people in row 70 would have a bit more space to get by and might actually leave my seat alone.

What I fear though is that because there's that extra space, people will walk in behind me using the space as a passing zone from the aisle and I'll have more people than ever leaning on and crowding my seat.

Any thoughts?

I've only done 71D once and I didn't find the space in front being used for passing at all - primarily because my legs were luxuriating in the space! Having said that the flight was kinda empty. 70E/71E/71F/72D were all empty! During boarding/disembarkation it was a bit of a free-for-all but aside from that, 71D pretty much owns that space.

The pax in row 70 will definitely find a way to bump into 69D, especially after a few drinks. How do I know, you may ask? My last A388 flight was in 70E.

Having said that, I'll test out the theory of guilt-free and uninterrupted recline in 5 days time, sitting in 69D on QF10 to MEL.

Well, my 54G ended up being OK, had a spare seat next to me. I tried the net (again) but (again) didn't find it comfortable. Found it more comfortable to just stretch my legs under the seat in front.

Very lightly loaded flight, 62-66 had no seats allocated, but went very quickly after takeoff once the seatbelt sign went off!

Or 86ABC/HJK? A friend travelled last week in 86C. I suggested it was "toilet class". But no! Apparently the seat is quite good. The restroom door is far away (180 degrees) and the recline is guilt free. And no-one is kicking/bumping your seat from behind.

Let me/us know how you find it.

Will do. I've been trying different Y seats on the A388. Have done 80A/K and 70E. Not sure if I'll try 71D myself, since from my observations from 70E, the only special things are the extra leg room and the possibility of having 2 screens, and I personally prefer the foot net than the extra leg room (although I'm only 5'7, which probably made the difference). Don't think I'll get to 50C until I get to WP, but likewise, I probably won't be very keen on it.

In the T-80 phase now. I'm in 50C and my shadow today has given up the "ghost". 50B, after weeks of being blocked and despite dozens of free seat choices still available, has been taken.

A question: Is it possible to know if somehow has requested it because it's a bassinet seat? In which case, I'd move.

T-24 phase now and 80A just became vacant!! Bye, bye 50C! :) (A very good chance I'm on NBW tomorrow - she's on her way back from LAX at the moment but to SYD or MEL??).

It's a tough one......

I'm more and more leaning towards 50C over 80A nowadays..... Haven't actually tried it yet...... But I hate the delay in disembarkation.

I would really really love to know who I have to sleep with to get 66D though ;)

NBW is indeed waiting (at gate 9) to take me to SIN today (QF9). Bossreggie would not be pleased! I'm not totally sure I am either...
