Maybe a cost cutting thing?

In relation to PDB's? No.

It's either lazy flight attendants or those with their nose out of joint about a work rule introduced years where they don't get paid until pushback.

Must have a good union if they get away with that kind of stuff.

Nobody has mentioned the security line for premium class AA pax, so look for this and don't line with the other Y pax. (I assume they still have it, and haven't flown dom F for two years) When you see the security line 100metres long, take a short walk up to the front to see if they have it, show you boarding pass to the 'wonderful' officers and through you go.

I spent an hour in the premium security queue at JFK once...god help the others....security gone to extremes??

Thanks maca, I'll certainly look forward to not having to line up! One of my pet hates about travel.

We had 3 hours at LAX trying to clear customs in 2010. I know stuff like this can take time but 3 hours!!!!

Hey guys, my wife and I have 5 AA first class trips coming up in August / September, thanks to YUPP / KUPP.

I just want to know what to expect, I know AA first is not that great but any tips from you guys would be great.

I know we don't get admirals club access, would it be worth purchasing a 30 day membership?

The route will be JFK-MIA-MSY-DFW-LAS-LAX.

Should be gold once our qf flights are added to this!

Do it while you can. When Doug Parker gets his grubby mits on the airline you'll all be forked.

Priority Access to get through security quicker can be worth its weight in gold!

AA F = QF Domestic J ... on a good day :)

Well known on here as an AA fanboi.I prefer AA F domestically to QF J domestic.Probably have been lucky. But they do get priority boarding and priority baggage right.
Doug Parker is probably having some influence already and as I reported there have been some genuine enhancements to Aadvantage recently-

Careful about using the "E" word, or Doug may take a page from the QF dictionary on what it means ;)

They do have priority boarding but lots of people have it, e.g. first class, AA status pax and OneWorld pax from Ruby (QF PS) upwards.

The queues can be very long with just legitimate status pax.

In my experience, F passengers are always called first, then EXP aa members, so there is an order within the priority boarding process

I've had flights where there wad no mention of First Class pax in the first boarding group - IIRC it was AA EXP pax & US Military in uniform ("we appreciate your service to our country").

Having said that if you're holding a boarding pass for F (or J where that is the highest cabin) you won't be knocked back.

Boarding can start as early as 45 mins prior so you'd probably need to leave the lounge an hour prior.

We always try to board reasonably early but seem to always find all other F pax seated by the time we board.

I also say that the 30 day membership was well worth the $A- flights get delayed all the time and you will spend plenty of time and money in airports then. also the AC desk were able to facilitate any changes you we needed.

Thanks for your advice oz. I to can't see them knocking us back if we are holding F boarding passes Not long to go now so both my wife and I very excited about the whole trip!

I promise to do a trip report where I will note the boarding process on the AA flights, about time i put something back into the frequent flyer community! Lol

Great tip funny! We are planning to organise the pass at JFK on our way MIA. Hope they have some good Chardonnay to keep my wife happy! Lol

Nowadays you can pre-purchase the 30 day membership (not a pass) online and specify the start date (up to 90 days in advance).
