yes I purchased the pass here and set the start date for QF out of BNE so got lounge pass from beginning of trip -

Wife and I are lucky enough to be traveling in J out of Melbourne so no need for lounge access until where state side.

Out of interest funny, how did you find the Admirals clubs?

yes it was fine - the showers and cleanliness were better than QFBNE because they have cleaners standing there waiting to clean up after you before the next person took cubicle (took a stern lecture from #1 son before I understood about the tipping thingy) I always look at lounges from the safety aspect and the $ I would have spent buying drinks and junk if I stayed on the concourse on a coughpy hard seat. AC food was fine, some things free and others you pay. AC staff were like QF lounge staff - they could magically change bookings and organise complimentary food tickets when flights were delayed- only took 1 bombing then a storm and the flights were not running to time - that's when the benefit of the lounge kicked in

Yes can understand your comment regarding things going wrong then the value of the lounge kicks in.

As long as we can be comfortable maybe have a drink we will be happy.

Thanks for the info.

Do these 30-day membership admirals club passes allow you to guest someone ?
Or must two people travelling together both have a pass ?

Each person needs a pass
Not quite true. Looking at the AA page, it says that all the benefits of the One-Day Pass apply, plus those available to Annual Memberships, including
  • Up to two guests or immediate family (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age) may accompany the member

That's in AA lounges - it goes on to say that guest access at OW partner lounges might differ.

These things are tremendous value for those without high enough status. I did a DONE4 in April as a NB - without those four Qantas flights to progress in status - and in the US just flying First isn't good enough for lounge access. But the 30-day pass worked fine for my positioning flights and in the US and for a couple of Y flights I took in the UK.

The only snag I had was on my final flight - a Dash-8 into Canberra - when I'd just come off QF108 from JKF and needed a shower. My 30-day membership had expired, I wasn't travelling in a J cabin, and I was still NB. This next flight would qualify me. Luckily the dragon took pity on me when I suggested that my only alternative was to delay my flight until I could get a jet, which would give me lounge access, presumably into the Business Lounge.

That's why it is important to try to refer to the 30 day instrument as a "Membership" - it confers all the the benefits of an A/C membership for 30 days (including guesting as indicated).

Doing so helps prevent getting confused with the 24 hour "pass" which has no guest privileges.

Yes, I hadn't really had a chance to read the terms and conditions but am happy to report that has now been rectified.

Wow I'm surprised that First Class tickets don't get you lounge access when flying domestically in US. Am I reading the AC page correctly in interpreting QF WP /oneworld emerald can access lounge domestically with one guest? If so I'm hoping the will be obliging to allow 10yr son as well.

AAdmirals Clubs are very good at permitting the entire family to enter the lounge.

Thats good to hear. The amaroos are doing a couple of AA whY flights over x-mas and was wondering how I'd go getting the 2 kids in.

Still, one of them is LAS......why don't they have a lounge at this airport:?:

Correct, no AAdmirals Club lounge at LAS. A few years ago they closed several lounges so places like IAD don't have a lounge any more - not sure if LAS ever had one, certainly not in the last 10 years at least?? I guess LAS airport want to encourage people to drop their spare change into the slot machines in the terminal rather than find a quiet place to wait for their flights.

Not if the three pax in the family are all adults... :( Allowed in YYZ but denied in LGA, DFW, LAX T4 and the OW lounge in TBIT, but rules are rules.
The intl J lounge in SYD were nice in bending the rules though.

A few years back a nice bloke took pity on me in LAS, when he saw me staring at the signs trying to find the AA lounge - tapped me on the shoulder and guested me into (i think) Delta lounge......my only first hand experience of door lice:(

For AAdmirals Club members, its 2 guests or immediate family (All guests must accompany the member. Immediate family refers to spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18 years of age.). But for OneWorld Emerald and Sapphire, its 1 guest. So I guess it depends on how tightly they enforce it. But in my experience, I have been permitted the "immediate family" access as OneWorld Emerald access. However, that was a few years ago.

In my experience, F passengers are always called first, then EXP aa members, so there is an order within the priority boarding process

That was my experience flying AA First LAX-LAS-LAX last week, always got called first and never had an issue with Priority Boarding.

Yep, I've often heard "first class cabin only" as the very first call - followed by uniformed military, AA EXP and OWE as the next group.
