AAdvantage to Add Minimum Revenue Criteria to status earn

If airlines are going to bring in a minimum spend criteria, this should be the only criteria required to earn status.

Spend 12k and get EXP. Not spend 12k and then earn 100000 EQM as well. This is having it both ways.

The likes of QF et al should stop giving status away with DSC promotions before the introduction of minimum spend if they want to thin out the unworthy.

I think there are too many loopholes in QFF which negate any attempt to enforce the revenue based model.

If QFF enforce minimum USD6,000 spend for Gold and minimum USD12,000 spend for Platinum the whole of the AFF community will be up in arms.

Or switching to VA

Then don't turn around and offer double SCs to all and sundry when someone can go from 700 SCs to 1400 SCs for less than AUD2000. Really stupid move but I get castrated for saying something

You still have them then?!! :-)

I resemble that remark :-)

Just to bump this thread, looks like flights on or after August 1, 2016 are already earning EQDs.

A ~1200 AUD flight BNE-SYD-CGK return flight will earn:

L Class Saver | 467 * 50% * 10% = 23.35 EQD
L Class Saver | 3428 * 50% * 10% = 171.40 EQD
H Class Flex | 3428 * 100% * 20% = 685.6 EQD
H Class Flex | 467 * 100% * 20% = 93.4 EQD

973.75 EQD (which at purchase time is around ~1300 AUD)...

973 EQD is around 1/3 of EQD needed for OW Ruby, but a lot less EQM.

So EQD earning is "ok", if you are on flex or higher fares...

Is there a maximum number of base award miles that can be earned on a ticket?

Yes, a maximum of 75,000 miles will be awarded per ticket (inclusive of any class of service and elite status bonus miles). There is no maximum for EQDs.

And interesting that you can't earn more than 75k base award miles on a single ticket...
