Hi! I am considering buying a Qantas Club membership that is currently on offer with bonus points, it was suggested on that forum that the 30 day Admirals Club Membership may be a good alternative for infrequent travel with Qantas. Does anyone have any experience accessing the Qantas lounge in Hong Kong using this pass when flying on QF flight number? Thanks

I haven't used the 30 day Admirals Club Membership in HKG but there is no mention of access on the AA site except to a lounge for members flying AA. Unfortunately it only points to access to select QC lounges when the next onward flight is on QF. I'd call QF and write down the name of whoever answers your query if access is suggested.

Thanks for that, think I will call the lounge in HK!

This is an interesting question... do let us know how you go.

My initial thoughts are that yes, you should be allowed access as an Admirals Club member as you are flying Qantas, with a QF flight number, and the lounge is a Qantas operated lounge. But the AA website does not give a clear answer. The Admirals Club location listed is not the Qantas lounge, meaning you would only have access to that particular lounge if flying AA. The website says you have access to "select" Qantas lounge locations but doesn't actually say which ones.

I think calling them is your best option. The key thing to remember is that as a 30 day membership holder you get all the benefits of regular Admirals Club membership - so I probably would leave out the fact it's a 30 day membership when calling in order not to confuse them.

Just called and was asked for my Admirals Club number!!! I said I hadn't joined yet, but when I did it would be a full membership not just a one day pass. The young lady said she didn't think I would have access, in other words not entirely sure! I do wonder why she would want the number ?

What number did you call?

It's concerning when American Airlines don't even know the rules of the product they are selling...

Earlier this year, both AA and QF websites were updated with "enhanced" information.

Meanwhile AC members continues to get access at Qantas lounges before QF and AA flights and QP member continues to get access at AC's before AA and QF flights.

More recently the AA website was 'unenhanced' somewhat on this topic.
So it's up in the air.

Purchased an Admiral's 30 day membership to use in Melbourne Qantas lounge as stated on AA website and with confirmation by email from AA. (Flying QF marketed and operated.)
Denied access. I produced the terms off the AA website and the email that I had received but was still denied. Manager showed me his print out dated Oct 6 from Qantas which stated no access. He would not budge!
Very disappointed about how it was handled. Wasted $99USD!

disturbing! did you manage to see what the email said? you should have been allowed access... maybe the manager got confused with a day pass? or did the email specifically say AAdmirals club members are not allowed?

it's definitely wrong... a 30 day pass is identical to a full AAdmirals Club membership, which is entitled to access. if you can, I'd follow it up directly with qantas.

On the right, what was presented by Qantas staff, 11 November, and on the left what was taken off the AA website.

This is very concerning as it goes directly against what is advertised by AA! I'd definitely be contacting Admirals Club and asking for a refund. They'll probably refuse but at least it may draw attention to QF's "policy".

Why would QF do this but not bother telling anyone? The lounge access rules on the AA website have not actually changed, so what on earth is going on?!

they did - the web sites changed early this year but the AA one changed seems to have not been changed enough or in enough places.

From the Qantas Club 'benefits->in the lounge' page, QC members still have access to all AA clubs when their next flight is with AA or a QF codeshare on AA metal.

The reciprocal arrangements seem to have been cancelled? Question is by whom, and why?
