AA's Admirals Club 30-day Membership: QF lounge access?

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

This was the first non-QF lounge I'd ever been in, and was disappointed I had to pay for my own beer :)

You didn't ask for a drink chit? ie voucher to give you a complimentary premium beverage? When you run out, you can always ask for another one.

You can get those? I wish I'd read more things in AFF before that trip.

AC membership (which is what this thread is about) doesn't ordinarily provide for drink chits at Admirals Clubs, even when travel on international itineraries.

QP members and oneworld Sapphire/Emerald do gte the chits.

Having posted that, the AC's do have a selection of soft drink along with basic ("well") beers/wines/spirits that are complimentary.

There's normally a list of these on the bar and failing that you can ask the bartender about the complimentary selection.

Of course, anything outside that complimentary selection needs to be paid for.

Oh. That could be why!

How about COS pax on int itineraries? Do they any chit entitlement?
I've never been able to find an official list on who does or does not get a drink chit...

Going by a now rather dormant thread on FT, AC members were not entitled to drink chits - even on international itineraries.

my experience with the AC lounges in DFW that all the house drinks were complimentary & also as our flights were delayed they gave us a meal chit to use in the lounge. (apparently we could have asked for one of the restaurants outside though.) just as an aside - the AC lounge had a ROOM within for children with video games - really useful with a crawling baby- also a baby change room

Until October 2010, all alcoholic drinks had to be paid for unless one had a drink chit.

Since then drink chits still provide for complimentary access to the non house drinks.

This availability of free house drinks is one of the reasons, I guess, for that thread to be rather dormant these days. The desire to obtain the use of drink chits is not as strong as it used to be.

Admirals Club is not listing any access in Dubai but to access any QF facilities (which would exclude EK) you would need to be travelling on QF if using this form of AC membership.
What if I'm flying on EK metal with a QF flight number, am I allowed to use the QF lounge with this AC membership?

The actual terms used by AA are:
"Must present your membership card (or 30 Day Membership receipt) and boarding pass at check-in counter for same day travel on Qantas operated flight."
I guess that means a QF plane with a QF Captain so I don't think a code share will work for you........but you can always ask at the relevant club.

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

Hi guys,

How does this go with JQ being QF owned?

Travelling OOL - HBA on JQ and LST - MEL on QF next month, I wouldn't mind checking out QP at OOL

I agree, a QF-operated flight clearly means QF metal... :(
Thanks for the reply grussellt!

Very unlikely to work. The lounge access agreement is between QF and AA, not JQ and AA. JQ is owned by QF, but it ends there (except when it suits JQ or QF to be 'a part of the Qantas group').

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

Hi All,

Got a trip coming up to the States and looks like people are having success in similar situations. Should the 30-day pass work in the to/from end of all the following lounges?
QF PER to SYD
QF SYD to DFW
AA DFW to BOS
QF JFK to LAX
QF LAX to SYD
QF SYD to PER

Thanks

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

Hi Shik

worked for me in MEL-SYD-BNE. but remember the hint- it isn't a PASS it is a MEMBERSHIP albeit a very short one. AA sell memberships but QF give away complimentary passes and you can buy single entry passes.

For the outbound legs going to the QP, have a printout of your receipt/membership that you'll get from the AA site. Say that you've bought a AC membership online and that you can't get a physical card until you get to an AC lounge in person - which is true, you're just skipping the detail that 30 day members don't get cards anyway IIRC.

For the US where you're in an AC lounge, it obviously shouldn't be a problem.

On the return leg, you should be able to get into the QP too, and could still show them your receipt/membership.

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

Note the membership comes with guesting rights, so two people travelling together only need the one membership between them.

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

Hi All,

Thanks for this very informative thread! I have just purchased a 30 day pass for my upcoming trip to the States in a few weeks to use for myself and my partner, and I was hoping someone could clarify that the below info is correct:

VA SYD > LAX (no lounge access here as not flying Qantas)
AA SFO > JFK (lounge access)
Jet Blue JFK > BUF (lounge access from Terminal 8 if wanted, we are flying out from Terminal 5)
Southwest BUF > LAS (no lounge access)
AA LAS > ORD (no lounge access as no Admirals Club at LAS)
AA ORD > BOS (lounge access)
Jet Blue BOS > MSY (lounge access from Terminal B if wanted, we are flying out from Terminal C)
AA AUS > LAX (lounge access)0
VA LAX > SYD (lounge access from Terminal 4 only if wanted, not Tom Bradley Terminal, we are flying out from Terminal 3)

Please let me know if I'm misinformed on any of the above, cheers!

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

morning- I believe you would get AC access with your membership IF the VA /Southwest are AA or partner codeshare flight numbers. FYI at AC entry desk I only had to quote AA member number and my membership showed up when they checked against. Apparently we can get it attached to QF records but don't know how as yet. maybe someone who as either or both can advise??

I missed this earlier.

An A/C member doesn't need to be flying AA or QF to access an Admiral Club. In fact an A/C member does not need to be flying at all!

All a member needs to do is be able to physically access the front door of an A/C. (It is difficult to get airside when not flying, but even that can be arranged apparently.)

Re: 30 Days Admirals Club Membership

I am looking at getting my partner and mother a 30 day membership for an upcoming trip to the U.S.

From everything I read, only 1 membership will be needed for them both to access SYD T3 QP, MEL T2 QP on there
way to LAX, then a few domestic AA runs. (they are both NB)

I know buying online you print the page out, if one is purchased in an AC do they issue the same, or do they have
a temporary card which IMO would make things a little easier or at least more bona fide?

I will be in the U.S. 10-11 days before they arrive so could easily express something back to them if need be.

I know the One Day passes issued in the AC's are double sided business cards, just have not seen a 30 day version (as it states, Date of Issue/Use on the card)
