Accor - Platinum Benefits?

Tbh, despite the question in the post stay surveys enquiring if you were an Accor member by reception etc; I think that's the way to go. I know I'm banging on but it seems Accor status is recognised throughout Vietnam, and I suspect the rest of SE Asia without prompting. Although I always tried to check in using the standard process, I was always directed to the executive floors for check, it was unexpected but appreciated. Hopefully others can corroborate this. I'll try and host some pics on Flickr in the near future and link back here.

I've booked Sofitel Chicago and Sofitel Washington DC based on my (promotion-code matched) Platinum Accor Status for my trip to USA in Aug/Sep. I'm really hoping that to make the most of the Platinum Privileges if at all possible. I heard from someone that it helps if you hand over your membership card at check-in so that they recognise the status straight away. Any other suggestions?

Do others have any experience with these hotels?

I had a few nights at Sofitel DC. My status was recognised however no room upgrade was available - in face there was some confusion on check in with the hotel believing I had cancelled the booking. As the hotel was full they said they didn't have a room available at all. I had to login to my account and show them that the booking had not been cancelled by me, before they accepted this, and I finally got the room I booked. I was given a drinks voucher and also an invitation to a drinks event with the manager the following evening. The drinks event was held in a corner of the bar, and wine and nibbles provided. The manager was very pleasant and spent an hour or so chatting with the few of us in attendance.

Edit - late checkout was also available.

That's a decent older style property which I enjoyed staying in. Small enough to recognize staff and staff to get to know guests. Gym is okay in basement. Good location too. White House is one block around the corner.

Just had two stays at the Mecure Rome Colosseum and Novotel Berlin Mitte as platinum.

Very "meh" experiences all around. About the only perk was a drinks voucher at each. No room upgrades,
late checkout refused in Rome, no checkin available at the "priority" desks.

Hilton certainly do better for high status customers.

One night at Novotel on Collins as Platinum.
At checkin I was warmly welcomed back - have never stayed there before
Staus was acknowledged immediately and unprompted by myself. Upgraded from standard queen to a King room facing Collins Street. Late checkout offered, and drink vouchers provided, again without having to ask for them.

Novotel Auckland Airport - one-night stay this weekend: no recognition or benefits whatsoever. I didn't care much as I was there for exactly 8 hrs for a snooze before my 6:30am departure, so it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. They have signs in the elevators for the top 2 levels being "Premier" floors, not sure what the difference is as we were not upgraded. My LeClub number was in the booking so they should have been aware. Very patchy this whole programme...

Other than that I really like this hotel, it was my 4th stay I think. New & modern rooms, extremely quiet. And for early morning departures nothing beats the convenience of reaching the the Koru Club (or boarding the plane) 20 mins after you got out of bed.

I have read most of the posts but can someone confirm recent access to exec lounge at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park; booking a normal room but with platinum status
Thanks in advance

Can't help you with Pullman Melbourne but can confirm all benefits are given at Pullman Sydney and Brisbane. What I do is get there email address via Accor website and send an email enquiring about benefits with my reservation number before arrival it usually prompts all Accor properties to give you what your entitled to. Good luck

I've specifically asked the hotel about this and as long as the lounge is open then Platinums have access if you book via an Accor website.
They tend to close the lounge when the hotel is quiet.

Pullman Brisbane Executive lounge is down stairs on ground level plenty of drinks during coughtail hour and nibbles and good breakfast in the morning saves going to the buffet.
