Accor is a funny old program with so many premium priced properties having coughpy earn rates.
Art Series, Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree all came through the Mantra acquisition. They all got stitched on earn rate. For some reason, Tribe got the full rate (maybe as there was only one of them)

There is a rumour some Mantras are being rebranded Novotel that may improve the earn rate a little.

Interesting. I wonder if that would make it easier to sign up to Accor+ in other countries with better priced memberships. Like the 2 free nights options in Indonesia, Malaysia etc.
You also get it complimentary with AMEX Platinum charge card

If you were ALL Gold through status nights or status points in either the current or previous calendar year, then they will extend that for your A+ term with joining or renewal of A+. This is the section of the A+ T&Cs that would be of most interest:

Cheers,
Matt.
I would like to confirm exactly how long status is kept for. It mentions about about two periods: the current and the previous calendar years. Are these treated separately?
Let's say that your renewal date is in July, if you stayed 10 nights Jul-Dec of the previous year, and another 20 during Jan-Jun this year, do the 30 nights count towards your status or only the higher of the two?

For status determination, it is always calendar year. So it is the previous calendar year, or the current calendar year to date. They are looked at separately and not combined.

Thanks for the confirmation @oz_mark.
So, in the example provided before, staying 10 nights in the first 6 months is enough to qualify for Silver, so you'd start of the current year as a silver member.
If you wanted to try for Gold, one option could be purchasing an Accor+ subscription and staying 10 nights during the current year to start off next year as Gold; does that sound right?

For Accor plus , it will extend your current accor status for another 12 months. for example if you current accor status is platinum , after you join accor plus on Dec , it will give you Accor plus platinum membership card until Dec next year. So that mean you only need to retain the status every second year.

In the past I have been able to use stay plus benefit at Sofitel (one of the better value options), in the last week every time I have looked at various Sofitel properties I get a message saying the property doesnt participate (not just date restriction) but when I check the properties on the exclusion list they are not listed.

Im really struggling to use my stay plus night this year, and this makes me less likely to renew next year.

I haven’t heard of Sofitel’s being blocked.
I used my stay plus at Sofitel Queenstown early this year and the rate was $740p/n so happy with that outcome and would be disappointed if they have been “removed” from stay plus

Tried Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa (multiple dates including low season) and get

Same for Sofitel Spa Viaduct Harbour Avenue, Auckland.

Was able to use at Sofitel Wellington earlier this year no problem, when i search now no dice.

Not sure what is going on.

Still works as far as I can see. (April 18/19)

Can you get it to work in Fiji or NZ?

I will try and contact Accor, as if Fiji and NZ arent eligible they should be noted on the exceptions page.

So, is this different to what @oz_mark said (or maybe I've misunderstood (which is probably the case))?

What happens in this scenario?
A user subscribes to Accor Plus towards the end of in second half of the year (picking a random month, September). This means that you start off at Silver and not long after receives the 20 status nights. This means that they're only 10 nights away from Gold.
If you then stay 3 nights in December, 3 in Jan, and another 4 in Feb (so 10 nights in total), do you get bumped up to gold as soon as the Feb stay is credited?
Or, would it be as @oz_mark pointed out that, due to the later two stays being in a different calendar year, you stay as Silver?

Short answer you stay silver come renewal time in September 2024.

Long answer:
September 2023 you are silver with total nights in calendar year 2023 = 20+3 = 23.
In Jan and Feb 2024 you do +7 nights, that will bump you to Gold at that point and you stay there until renewal point in September 2024 (assuming no other nights). Total nights in calendar year 2024 = 7.
At renewal, system sees your calendar year nights for 2023 was only 23, and nights for 2024 was only 7, so no bueno for retaining Gold.

Thank you @bits for confirming that - that makes sense but it's an odd way for Accor to determine status. So you're Gold from Feb-Sep, then drop down to Silver again.

If you stay an extra three nights in March, meaning 10 nights for 2024, then come Accor Plus renewal in Sep (assuming no more nights), you get your bonus 20 nights again (meaning 30 in total), would you then stay at Gold or still drop to Silver due to the timing of the 20 bonus nights?

you'll drop to silver since the 20 nights won't be awarded until after the renewal date
