Accor Plus Membership Discussion

So if I renew Accor plus does this mean for 2024 I’ll be diamond, then renew Accor plus on Nov 2024 and be diamond until Nov 2025?
Yes. when you renew your Accor plus on nov 2024 , the new Accor diamond plus membership will extended to nov 2025.

Second question - Accor plus renews in 2025 would this be a soft landing to Plat or will I just go back to whatever status was earnt? Eg I might drop back to silver

If you didn't meet diamond tier requirement on nov 2025 (in your case, spent €10,400 between 2024 nov - 2025 nov or 2024 jan - 2024 dec ) , when you renew your Accor plus member ship on nov 2025, the new status will be Accor plus platinum until nov 2026. ( soft landing )

My Accor plus renews on 30/11. I won’t hit 26000 status points by then

Do my status points reset on 30/11, or do I have until 31/12 to reach 26000? I thought it was 31/12 but now am a bit confused as the Accor app profile says

“You are missing 5000 status points which must be earnt by 30/11/2023”

Status is determined by status nights or status points earned in a calendar year.

There’s an issue at the moment which Accor IT need to address which confuses the Accor Plus membership anniversary end with the status year end, which is 31/12 for everyone. You’ve got a month and 8 days to attain… or, if you are already Diamond, that status should carry over to Nov 2024 when your Accor Plus renews anyway.

Cheers,
Matt.

I'll just pop this here...... physical cards from WW and WW Metro only; nothing online.

Max value on the Accor ALL cards I believe is $200 per card.
Up to 10 cards per day = 40K EDR points / 20K QFF points (assuming 10 x $200 cards).

I recall these being restricted? IIRC they couldn’t be used on sale rates or Red Hot Rooms.

Has that changed? Easy to redeem and low risk?

Got targeted email from EDR today, get up to 2500 points for $300 spend - whoopee!

I've not tried, so I couldn't say for sure... but looking at a number of posts about these and the folks who swear by their use for easy QFF points via the Accor Plus Fb group, supposedly it is not an issue to redeem these for A+ rates, but not sure on Red Hot rates, specifically. Can you use a physical gift card on a prepaid / online rate?

Maybe better off not doing it if not sure, or... if you have a hotel in mind, just call up and confirm that they accept the Accor ALL gift card for payment on whatever rate type.

There's another benefit to this as well, which is that you'll also avoid the cc surcharges on whatever portion of the folio you settle with the gift card/s.

I've got about $7K of Aussie Accor bookings in Q1 of next year already.
I'm going to give the properties a call and see if I can use 35 gift cards to pay! :D

Cheers,
Matt.

For the gift card , the hotel staff need to do it one by one and very slow , they got your credit card detail anyway , so the reception staff just let me sent all the accor egift cards to their email address when I check out. about 20 gift cards use at Sydney darling harbour Sofitel last time.

There's nowhere on the booking page to use them, which seems to be the main restiction on using them for RHR or otherwise advance purchase bookings. I have never heard of anyone not being able to use them on an A+ rate in a hotel.

Don't mean to be daft, but where is this offer? I don't see it on the Woolies online page anywhere. Does one need to boost the offer?

Online looks like you can buy up to $500 per card. Physical or eGift card. But then this which references only physical cards and no link to what the participating hotels are. Sounds like pain is bound to be incurred.

It's in this week catalogue.

The offer here is physical gift cards only; purchased in a bricks & mortar WW or WW Metro store. The offer is on the bottom of a page near the tail end of the current WW catalog, which you can find online at their website. It was page 45 of the catalog for me, but unsure if that varies by store/state. If you buy the eGVs, I don’t expect you’ll get anything for them, except their face value

Interesting at dinner last night, on receiving the bill it had two amounts, one for over 450k Rupiah and another for 225k Rupiah, they said the first number was wrong, I thought can’t be that little, and they said Accor Plus member cost is cheaper. Novotel, Benoa, Indonesia. So roughly $45 down to half.
Pity the menu is a bit dumbed down, imo, I would like the Balinese fish at breakfast as a main at night and more traditional Indonesian choices.

To partly answer my own question, terms on the back of the card exclude Accor Plus.

And unlike most GCs have a 3 year expiry.

Yes - was aware of the terms, but supposedly they work fine regardless of this, for rates paid at the hotel.

If not wanting to take the risk then I guess just don’t do it?

I’m now in, though, at least for a chunk!

Look for help to solve overlapping issue. I booked a stay from 20 to 30 November, say Hotel A. I booked another Accor hotel, Hotel B, stay from 22-24 November using my credit card promotion with the hotel. The hotel B ensured me they cannot deposit points or nights as it was not Accor direct booking but rather the Credit card promotion which is perfect for me since it will not crest an overlap. However, someone at Hotel B credited nights to my account! This concerns me as my longer stay may not get any nights credit! Can I ask hotel B to cancel the credited nights or it is easy to ask hotel A to adjust checked-in stay to be 25 Nov-5 Dec to avoid overlap (if possible) ??

Just wait until 7 days after your Hotel A booking ends. If they credit the stay correctly then no further action needed, and consider your Hotel B credit a bonus.
If Hotel A hasn't credited as expected, lodge a case with Accor, explaining the situation and use their program T&C against them, saying Hotel B wasn't a direct booking (and therefore not a qualifying booking so no points/nights should have been added etc).

Are you sure Hotel B wasn't a direct booking?

This membership doesn't include the free night and I am sure it said in the fine print that it doesn't include experiences (but I get emailed those still so I would be interested what'd happen if I tried to buy one - never been my cup of tea) but otherwise is the same as the full $399 version. To me this represents much much better value than the higher priced "full" membership
Like most loyalty things, the value you get out of it is directly related to how frequently you use it and the value you can extract from individual redemptions. For me spending $400 on Accor+ with that free night is a bargain for the free night alone as I've used it to stay at the Sofitel Sydney which regularly costs more than $400. Additionally, having booked the better part of 60 nights (most of which were on an Accor+ rate), the savings there was considerable as well. In some instances I got hotels in the CBDs of Darwin, Perth and Sydney for ~$100/night with free breakfast (as a Platinum). If we exclude the free night for just a moment and simply calculate the cost savings I would need to have for each night stay to "break even," that would work out to roughly $6.67/night which from my experience I have more than easily got.

if you are able to wait till December to see if they offer it again do take advantage of that membership option.
Does Accor run a promotion in December where they offer the base Accor+ for $79?
