Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Ok... and you think going through all that pain to claim such a bonus is worth the effort??
Yes the Welcome amenity alone like the cheap $10 wine(which I won't drink anyway)/fruit/chocolate is not worth my effort. But the Welcome Drinks vouchers are different as we usually dine at the hotel restaurant and the additional two Welcome Drinks vouchers are worth $25 off our dinner bill so to me it's worth my effort to chase.

In my experience, most of the time they would reluctantly issue me the two additional Welcome Drinks vouchers at the point when I had explained the bookings were under different names so not a single stay. I had only needed to "threaten" the check out then check in trick two or three times in my life, and I never had to actually carry out this "threat" in order to get the additional two Welcome Drinks vouchers. So the effort is relatively minimal for me so far(touch wood). I just hate being short-changed and my interpretation of the definition of a "stay" is consecutive nights under the same name whereas consecutive nights booked under different names(no matter whether the two guests are related or not) should be considered two stays instead of one single stay.

But I totally agree with dairyfloss' perfect suggestion of linking the two nights being the most convenient, provided that the guests don't care about the two additional drinks vouchers unlike me. As dairyfloss said, each to their own:).

Question re the suite upgrade after earning 4000 status points.... how long after getting to the 4000 pts do the upgrade night appear on your account?

Just to clarify... you're now at 18,000+ status points? It's 2 SNUs at hitting Platinum 14,000 / 60 nights, and then at intervals of 4,000 starting at 18,000 status points (i.e. 18K, 22K, 26K, etc). They should be credited as these intervals are reached (when qualifying points are credited)

Ok, just so I understand. Even though I'm plat for this year I need to requal before I get the 4000 point SNU

Yes - I'm afraid it's only the qualifying year values that you look at. If you attained Platinum in 2023, you'll hold that status through at least the end of 2024 (maybe longer, if you have A+ carrying you over to a membership year end date in 2025), however for the SNUs, you do need to re-qualify again each year before they start to generate again

Thanks i understand now. I'm going to maintain plat without A+ this year so will get the 2 nights when i requal in about a months time

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. If a stay is paid for with ALL points (40 euro vouchers) does it count towards earning elite status? Does it earn points on any cash co-pay for the stay?

Makes for an awkward checkout🤣🤣 Or you can check out at the end of your stay and says I did not get a welcome drink for this stay. Or just pig out at the exec lounge.

I never get any welcome amenities for same day check in how does one go about asking for those without accusing the hotel that they did not provide welcome amenities? (plat member)

Hi gang - considering something here, and after advice or thoughts. I currently have Accor+ membership that runs though August 2024, but to maximise the benefit of the ‘carryover’ member status that applies to A+ members (in case I ever need it), I was thinking to let the A+ membership lapse in August, and then start over in mid-late December. Assuming I had no ALL bookings, or maybe more specifically, no plans to leverage dining discounts through that period… am I right in thinking this would be a better membership start/end date? Any negatives?

Cheers,
Matt.
Mine accor plus ended in Feb 2024 and I have been plebian Accor member since (no plus) have until Dec 2024 to renew my status before my platinum member expires. So have 3 years of status total
🤣 🤣

Yes and no. It should count towards status nights, but not status points (for the amount covered by reward points). If there is a co pay, that will count towards status points but because Accor don't award status points for the tax portion (10% if in AU) the co pay amount would need to be greater than that to earn any status points.

Yes it's a bit awkward but that's the only way to stand a chance of getting the Welcome Drinks vouchers on the second night under a different name. The vouchers need to be redeemed at hotel restaurant so the vouchers are quite useful when we dine at the hotel restaurant. Telling them at the end of the stay would probably get a reaction like "sorry" or "Should have asked at check-in"(as it is a benefit for during the stay, not after the end of a stay------once I even had an agent who told me the welcome drinks vouchers needed to be redeemed that same evening as check in, not even for coffee the next morning before check out, as she described the vouchers were for "welcoming" not "farewell"🤣🤣)".

Most of the time the hotel would put the welcome amenities(fruit platter +/- cheap wine +/- chocolate) in the room already as soon as we walked into the room after check-in. So you don't have to ask. Occasionally they give out the welcome amenities at check in desk in a small bag(obviously no fruit platter in that, maybe just wine and snacks). Sometimes if there's nothing at check-in or in the room initially, we went out after dropping our bags in our room and then upon return there would be something delivered to the room without asking(mostly fruit platter only in this situation). There were occasions where I wasn't given any welcome amenities bag at check in and nothing in the room even upon our return to the room, and I never bothered to ask/argue for the amenities(even on our first night stay) as I don't really care about the welcome amenities I'm just after the drinks vouchers.

Really?
Have had same day check in many times at various properties and normally within about an hour of checking in staff will bring something to our room or they do it as part of a turndown service. We have come back from dinner or the football and there will be a platter, chocolates, wine etc in our room

But they have always upgraded me to the best rooms (sometimes to a suite) so I know that I am a valued member. Minus the alcohol and chocolate and sweets and cheese platters 🤣 🤣 Novotel Darling Harbour is the exception because they give you the gifts right out of the counter so easier for the service to be more streamlined🤣

Well my farewell drink vouchers were appreciated much during each stay (makes it all the more sentimental since alcohol is a sedative🤣

As a Diamond we nearly always get upgraded to suites but it’s still nice to get a nice welcome gift

As a side note on one occasion I have went back the next day after check out after forgetting to redeem my voucher (officially one day after drink voucher expired I have redeemed them at acertain property because the date was not written) but then I paid a premium for the room am am a frequent flyer so I thought why not since I already paid for it in my hotel cost. Starts with a P and ends with a N 🤣 🤣

Cooliest experience was the Singapore Fairmont welcome drink which I got to redeem by the poolside bar (with a side of extra peanut). Ironically forgot to order the singapore sling

Anyone redeeming CBA points for Accor points at 5:1? It's a bit steep, given you can get VA points at 2:1, but the thought has crossed my mind...
