Accor Plus Membership Discussion

The Biz option has been around for a while now. Often with a 10k bonus pts instead of 5k.

They also come with Accor Silver (FWIW) but I did receive an offer last year for comp Gold with the Biz package.

Ibis Business at €90 pa plus Accor Gold might suit some better.

The Traveller level has been around a while. There were hotels offering it as part of a room package a couple of years ago.

That is true and it was also possible to sign up for it if registering under a different country like India. What is notable here, though is you don’t need to “fake” your location to get it!

I was able to 'gift' it to a friend last year in Australia for $75. No shenanigans with pretending I was anywhere else.

Scary, I literally just received an email offer to join Accor Plus Traveller for 4000 point (= €80)….

Got that email also

Just comparing what I would get as Accor+ Traveller over ALL Platinum and it looks like the only benefit that would be additional value to moi for the 4000 points would be the dining benefit. That alone would justify spending $120 odd worth of points as I'm usually dining with Mrs Pineapple, although I suspect that will be a one off offer. The 10% member discount rate looks suspiciously like the ALL member rate although the latter is "up to 10%" rate. Just wondering how often and broadly the Accor+ "red hot rooms" sales occur? (Edit: found the current offers, slim pickings in AU at the moment)

BTW I was in Accor plus years ago but abandoned it once the free Le Club (now ALL) came out. Removing the + handcuffs was refreshing as I was staying in often doubtful value accor hotels just to chase value for money for the benefit.

Cheers skip

For me the dining discount is simply the cherry on top. What really sold it for me were the red hot rooms, escapes and the Accor+ 10% discount. Often the discounts can be considerable (as much as 50% off) for certain properties. You can find a listing of the current stay offers here.

Looking back at some of my bookings since becoming a Accor+ member I thought I'd highlight some of the "deals" I got:
  • Mercure Gold Coast - 3 nights for $292.80 (includes breakfast)
  • Breakfree Great Sandy Straits Hervey Bay - 4 nights for $356 AUD
  • Tribe Perth Kings Park - 4 nights for $435 AUD
  • Pullman Sydney Airport - $158 AUD/night
  • Novotel Sydney International Airport - $124.50/night
  • Ibis Sydney Airport - $83.40/night
Aside from the relatively low room rates, one nice feature of many of the Accor+ rates are that many are fully refundable and aren't prepaid. In addition, many of these deals involve booking better rooms on top. For instance, at the Novotel I was booked into a Deluxe room.

Thanks, that looks worthwhile. Now here's the interesting part. When I hit "Join" there is a second unadvertised offer displaying of a complimentary night for a further 8,000 points.- the Accor Plus tier has a further "Explorer" tier which adds (only) the "complimentary" night for an extra $150. Of course the additional cost if paying in points is another $250, so this looks like an offer for fools who wish to soon part with money.

The Accor Plus 'Explorer' tier is the standard Accor Plus offering.
OK. Handy that they quantified the value of the "complementary" night through the tier pricing. It looks like a lesser value tier to me than Explorer, but it depends what your the value of your complementary room night value is of course.

Well I hit "go" and got a confirmation email with this cryptic caveat
Additionally, the ALL - Accor Live Limitless Status and Reward points you have accumulated have been transferred to your new Accor Plus account, and you’ll continue to earn points every time you stay at participating Accor hotels worldwide.
I'd hope to still have the flexibility to do with my ALL points what I previously. I'm hoping my "new Accor Plus account" is stapled on to my ALL account. I have a bucket of points earmarked "Europe 2023"

It really depends on how you would use that free night in Asia-Pacific I suppose. If you book a Mercure or heaven forbid an Ibis, then likely yeah you aren't getting good value for money. But there are a number of Accor properties whose value exceeds the stated $250.

One related point I should note is it is up for debate how much these Accor points are actually worth. I know some will quote Accor's official marketing material that states that you can convert 2000 Accor points for 40 Euros off a hotel but that is one of only a couple of ways you can use Accor points, some of which may be more lucrative than the stated value. Aside from transferring to frequent flyer programs (which I know probably isn't as lucrative as using the points directly at a hotel) there is also Accor Limitless Experiences which include tickets to shows and occasionally excellent packages on multi-night stays at Accor properties.

Should be all fine. Accor have this weird process of changing your account number when you change levels etc

They don't staple accounts. They become one and the same account.

Thanks but I'm already Platinum from spend. I don't think it works for renewals?
It does work for renewals although the offer you see will be based on the status you held in the prior year. So for instance, should I start next year as a Platinum my "fast track" offer would be 15 nights credited to my account. This year since I began the year as an Accor Silver (matched thanks to QF Gold) I was first given the fast track to Gold for 10 nights, and then when I hit Gold I went back and applied for fast track again this time for Platinum for 15 nights.
The link produces an error suggesting so.
I got an error as well. You might have to do a Google search and try some links. I know that advice may sounds generic and unhelpful but trust me, eventually you'll find the link that causes the system to recognize the fast track.

OK. I have already requalified for next year, so it would make sense to hunt up the fast track in January. The error may be because there is nowhere to fast track to at the moment.

Appreciate all your help. So does my wallet!

In my case the status accelerator will make a difference as I'll have stayed 48 nights at Accor properties this year (clearly this cheap 'Roo is qualifying based on nights 😛).

This has been primarily why I stayed at Accor properties so much this year was the Accor+ rates. When you can stay at Mercures or Pullmans for well under $150/night Accor quickly becomes the preferred chain especially when comparable to rates at lower tier hotels (i.e. Comfort Inns) and the usual jaunts (i.e. Marriotts and Hiltons) aren't at the usual $80-$100/night as is the case in North America.

Is anyone able to confirm if the peppers properties (eg Noosa, Kingscliff) are elligible for the stay plus night?

The site is contradictory - in one section it says that they are elligible on bookings of 3 nights or more, but then at the end it states all pepper and mantra properties are excluded

Also - if you get the Accor plus membership with 2 free nights, can you get away with booking a 3 night stay and having 2 nights free? Or would you need to make 2 separate 3 night stays
