Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Anyone with experience letting their Accor Plus lapse who can advise how long it takes to drop off your profile?

They want AUD399 to renew. That’s a hard no for me.

So I’m considering letting it lapse and then taking up a new subscription while in Hong Kong soon after at a more reasonable price. 😉

But I’ve seen reports that people visiting Hong Kong have run into issues when the email address on the account is already in use.

Any experiences / insights appreciated.

If you use Gmail, you can just use the '+' for a new email address. Eg [email protected] is our current one. Just use [email protected]. All mail will route to your inbox.

Yep, that part is easy enough, but if I then try to link the Accor Plus account with my regular Accor account, won’t the system detect the email being different?

I just don’t want to end up missing out on the free night or dining benefits because the day my Accor Plus details don’t match my regular Accor account details.

My other thought was to subscribe via a secondary email and then a few weeks later use the “update details” function.

If you end up with an Accor Plus account and a normal Accor ALL account, they are two different accounts, and you would need to get member services to merge them.

My Accor Plus renewal isnt due until June but when on the All Accor website it offers me choice of two plus memberships - Ibis (shudder) euro 99 and voyager euro 199 both these new programs seem to offer less than current plus i have.

Will see what im offered come renewal time.

When I renewed this year I was given an offered a 10% off discount ($359 instead of $399). Unsure if that makes much of a difference. What is key of course is where you use that Stay+ benefit. If you stay at the Sofitel Sydney Harbour or one of the nicer hotels in Asia, then yeah you can make your money back on that one stay. But if all you can come up with are Mercures or heaven forbid Ibis, then yeah, there ain't much value!

So that's super annoying. Accor Plus website says something very different to the hotel. Does this mean one always needs to check before dining in case they've just made up their own rules?
Yes, I made this same complaint to Accor Plus but they never acknowledged it. Swissotel Sydney has the same (arbitrary 10% discount). My point to them being simple - it only shows up as an exception on the site if they give no discount, so here you have mainline properties not honouring the 50% discount arbitrarily with no acknowledgement of it on the Accor Plus site, it's a terrible look that really just reflects publicly the true issue that Accor has - it's a disjointed conglomarate of properties unwilling to uniformly apply what is marketed to customers.

If you're an Accor Plus member, you won't be able to join one of the ALL Plus. It will give you an error if you try.

Those two global programs were “enhanced” in late March. Rather than instant Gold with the Ibis program, you now get 10 nights credit (eg effectively Silver plus a Fastrack to Gold / Platinum).

I signed up for 2 yrs mid March and now have Gold until at least Dec 2024 plus I got the 10 nights bonus the other day. Although it’s called “Ibis”, there are broader discounts available - not to the extent of A+ but you’re paying less upfront.

Answering my own question as a reference point for others.

Dropped immediately.

Via email:
“Dear Captain Halliday,
Your Accor Plus membership was not renewed, and expired on 30/04/2023. We are delighted to continue to offer the ALL – Accor Live Limitless membership and benefits to you.” (Plus several additional paragraphs of PR puff)

New Accor number advised as part of the email and already showing in App.

As I don’t have any travel for a few weeks I might hold off pulling the trigger on resubscribing at the discounted rate. 😉

So you cant switch program at renewal?

They need to sell an add on, such that if you have Accor Plus for Asia Pacific, you can get the ALL Plus for use in Europe, US (although as USA has a Pacific coastline it ough to be added to Accor Plus) etc.

Some pretty incredible Red Hot Room deals on at the moment - I think launched today..

Movenpick Melbourne from $134.50 per night, stays til 30 Sep
Movenpick Hobart from $119.50 per night, stays til 30 Sep
Harbour Rocks MGallery (The Rocks, Sydney) from $185 per night, stays til 30 Oct

I've banged this drum many times before on AFF, but I can't speak highly enough of the value Miss Mi @ Movenpick Melbourne offers. It's a bloody hatted restaurant which honours the Accor Plus dining discount!

Nice to see a red hot room that isn't at the Airport or in Cranbourne or something like that, but alas as a family of 4 we wouldn't be able to book the discounted rate anyway so I don't even bother looking.

It's a useful perk for many but frustrating that it is almost always applied to rooms with an occupancy of two. I know this isn't a blanket truth but I checked myself and while there are plenty of 2 and 2.5 occupancy rooms discounted, anything above that is exceedingly rare and almost always in undesirable properties.

Why's that? I've booked multiple rooms under Red Hot rates before?

I think you can usually book up to 3 rooms under the Accor Plus rates, although I've had success tricking the Accor engine into letting me book 7 rooms once.

It's less that I want to book multiple rooms and more that there are almost never discounts on higher occupancy rooms. I can book 2 discounted rooms but that is going to end up costing more than a single larger room which isn't discounted.

Point being, more than 2 pax = unlikely to actually benefit from red hot rooms discount-wise

The terms generally allow for 2 rooms. But it does not seem to be enforced that strictly.
