Accor Plus Membership Discussion

I personally DO like Signature. It is really only beneficial if you know you will spend more than the membership fees in accommodation each year. (I have the monthly one at the moment but would prefer to sign to the annual if a discount come along again.)

simple pros:
1. What I pay per month I essentially get back in reward points.
2. I get extra reward points every 4 months and every year.
3. I get status points bringing me closer to SNUs.

simple cons:
1. you are committing to spend a certain amount (cost of the membership) and more (see point 2), on your bookings each year.
2. Can pay for stays with the reward points, but not if registered for a promo, so spend commitment for the year will actually be higher than the membership fees.

For me, I like it. I think it's a take it or leave thing. I want to stick with it for sure though if I am able. I like getting the bonus reward & status points :)

Just waiting for Accor plus to sort out my membership - that's my priority membership.
I have a booking in October in Seoul, South Korea and wondering if I will make sense to get it now for then?

I know this has been asked/answered before, but I can’t find the relevant post.

I have a stayplus free night with 30 June expiry.

Do I have to stay before 30 June or can I book before that date for a stay later in the year?

I’ve been holding off making a booking hoping for a RHR or something like this.

Sadly my preferred hotel is not participating, and at my second preference the sale is only being applied to the most expensive room categories. ☹️

Thanks for that @sudoer
I compared the sale rate like for like to our Thailand 6 night booking I made in March and it is $101 dearer, but worth doing the exercise (it does pay to book early sometimes.)

I have renewed my Accor plus Explorer (Malaysia) that's due to expire end of May. Payment has been taken a few days ago and confirmation received however I'm still seeing the original membership expiry date. How long does it take to update?
Just worried that my Aussie address has blocked the renewal.

Maybe try emailing them?

Overall, I have found Accor ALL works best for me. Besides the free night, I have earned enough points to book three hotel nights with only around $27 left over to pay each booking. I am neither a regular nor consistent hotel user. And sometimes I am just lucky with the timing of Red Hot Rooms deals, such as the Pullman Sydney Airport for just $170.

I've just had a (rare) success with the Best Price Guarantee. I'd had a look on Google Hotels and found a cheaper rate at the Sofitel Beverly Hills. The rates were flexible, so I went ahead and booked it with Accor and then fill out the Best Price form and submitted it, thinking there'd be some technicality they'd knock it back on. But, the next morning I had an email from Accor saying they'd reviewed it and passed it on to the hotel for a final check and to action. A few hours later I got an email saying my booking had been updated and with the new (now 25% lower) price.

Nice to see that it is still possible to get this to work.

Wow. That worker will now be sacked!

But seriously, good work. I'd long given up.

I once did the best price guarantee with marriott (the chain). They reviewed it and offered me 30 aussie dollarbucks in savings or 5000 points. Of course I chose the 30 dollarbucks😭😭

I have just received an email to say my membership is due

Your subscription will renew soon
This is a friendly reminder that your Accor Plus subscription for Explorer will automatically renew on August 2, 2024.
Your payment method on file will be charged at that time.

In the past they have always phoned me to renew. Is this the new way?
My membership was always due at the end of August, but last year I renewed early to get the bonus nights. So now I have effectively lost 1 month of my membership.
I am Accor gold and have not had enough night stays this year to automatically stay gold. But I seem to remember something last year that I would stay gold until 2025.
I will have a five night stay in September at the Mantra. I registered for the fast track promo, so unsure what bonus nights I will get.

I am confused, should I phone them? I am not a fan of automatic renewals.

You will need to call them to get the automatic renewal turned off.
You won't really have lost a month - your renewal date should have remained the same (I imagine it is 31 August)

Interestingly I had my first year comp'd through the AMEX Platinum, and then never received any communication regarding my renewal (having cancelled the AMEX), but have still maintained my A+ membership.

Thanks @oz_mark , yes my original renewal date was the 31st August.
I certainly didn't sign up for automatic renewal. I will give them a call.
