Thanks for the re-assurance on Istanbul - we are booked June 30 to July 7 - will still monitor situation over next couple weeks.

One thing to look at is whether Cruise lines are still berthing there. At the first sign of trouble they don't. There are no cancellations for Istanbul.

Major - where you guys staying? We are supposed to be4 visiting Istanbul in 5 weeks time but if things there get any more shakey will be looking for new destination.

We are at the Holiday Inn. It is fairly central and walking distance to restaurants,shops etc.

How much was Dom Perignon at the cellar door?

I didn't see it but a bloke told me he saw the 2004 for 149 EUR

Interesting would be fabulous - one thing it cannot ever do is morph onto an event where attendees feel any pressure at all to bring along overly expensive Champagne - it must be a night about friendship and fun not one-upmanship.
