Oh absolutely. It was a great marketing play from EK.

I was also relieved to note later in the article that he did select the Veuve so all is right with the world.

I quite like reading Bens articles, not really aimed at my demographic but like the tone of his writing. And he still loves travel even while not travelling in style everywhere, kind of reminds me of myself younger before I got spoilt.

I just did they don't have any

White generic bottle comes up for 0.00 dollars

 Do you mean that the link didn't open properly? It does for me on my PC if I click on it. There's a magnum there at $3900 if you're feeling flush.

Even reading this thread the answer to this question is far from clear to me, at this price point what is general preferred brand? Is it Moet?
Whatever your pallet tells you that you enjoy. I like blondes / Shintaro likes redheads - we are all different - just cause someone posta that this is better than that - personal opinion only - it's a simple process of continually sampling diff brands and choose what label tastes good to you - you make decision on preferred brand.

For The Record: Moet in ample stock in my cellar - as is Mumm, Veuve, Bollinger, Taittinger, Billicart, Lanson Black, Ayala eyc

If you are on a budget and need to keep the dollars for travelling you could go one bottle of Moët and then move to Chandon from Australia. You will get at least 8 Domaine Chandon for 1 Krug

For me Moët is more than acceptable for all occasions, for everyday tipple Mumm @ ~$32/bottle is fine for me also... Special occasions Veuve, Billecart-salmon, Taittinger or Pol Roger all around the ~$60 mark

But everyone's tastes vary, drink what you enjoy...!

I must be missing something here... multi vintage by definition means NV?

Well,... yes - but that appears to be the way that Krug does not want to express it. One of my books describes it as "...containing wines from at least 20 different cru across a decade's worth of vintages." How that is supposed to differentiate from NV, I do not know. Maybe it's just marketing hype?

Only each individual can decide whether Krug (or any other expensive product) is worth it. In my opinion it is worth it. Its like no other champagne.

And yes, there are different Krugs. There is the NV/MV as well as a vintage Krug. Then there is a NV/MV rose and a vintage rose. There are also two single vineyard vintage Krugs. One is blanc de noir and other other blanc de blanc (ie, all made from Pinot Noir and the other all Chardonnay). Those last two are made in minute quantities and hence cost several thousand per bottle. Needless to say, never tried them.

I've tried all the others at a Krug tasting a few years ago. Again, just my opinion, the value for money (seems a bit strange when the entry level is $180) is the MV Krug. The vintage stuff needs some serious cellar time. On the whole, rose champagne to me is a bit of a marketing gimmick and rarely a superior product (there are exceptions) and also sell for more. My personal theory on rose is the ladies like the colour and them more to try impress them. I should add, I am a cynic :)

If curious about these more expensive wines, rather than shelling out big bucks for something you might not even rate, get along to tastings where you get to try multiple expensive wines and then you can decide for yourself what's worth the money to you.

Exactly the same thing. Its just a marketing gimmick to differentiate themselves from all the other NVs.

Yeah, I thought as such - was wondering if there was a possibility that multi vintage was referring to something uncommon like.. only using the "prestige" cuvee from each vintage, or another particular component of each vintage as part of the blend.
